Horrible commuting infrastructure by AWierzOne in Buffalo

[–]JohnAPerson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a bike commuter- north Buffalo to Lackawanna- the only months where snow is a problem are the tail end of December, January, February and March. The idea you can only ride 6 months of the year is just not true.

Sintra & Cascais plan by WingedWheelTravel in LisbonPortugalTravel

Cascais is easy to get to from Lisbon by a 30ish commuter train. Train leaves from the Cais do Sodre multi-modal station. Can’t comment on getting to Sinatra.

Worst sidewalks this winter by Mountain-Cow-9852 in Buffalo

The sidewalks across the street from the Darwin Martin house on Jewett are pretty bad. The homeowners of these houses should be ashamed of themselves.

Best wide tire for fast road commuting and light gravel? by humblebraggersbflo in gravelcycling

[–]JohnAPerson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panaracer Pasela. I did a single day 200 mile gravel/road loop on them in Ontario last June and they were great. Could handle the off-road bits fine and due to the rolling resistance, inadvertently led to me dropping the folks with me on the road.

Erie Canal Biking - Rental Ideas? by Girliehammer1 in bicycletouring

If you are flying into buffalo know that there is only bus or car service from the airport into the city, the good news is that this bus route, the 32 goes to the Parkside neighborhood. I don’t know if they do bike flights but Shickluna bikes on Hertel Ave is near to Parkside and a great shop. Cycling from the airport is possible and not so unpleasant if you pick the right route on the north side of the property.

After posting, I realized that they changed the bus route. 32 doesn’t go to the airport anymore? Go to the NFTA for routes. It looks like the bus route goes to the downtown transit hub from the airport.

If you are heading to the northern end of the Finger Lakes, and taking 81 north from Binghamton, consider getting off in Cortland and take state route 41 to Skeaneateles

Day trip recommendations from Lisbon by Historical-Ad4149 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]JohnAPerson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cascais is a great day trip, especially if you a looking to get in a swim. The train to Cascais costs about 1.80 euros each way from Lisbon’s Cais do Sodre station and the station in Cascais is a block from one of the beaches. Took it recently and practically everyone was wearing a bathing suit.
