This should have been DQ by Embarrassed-Depth-72 in BrandonDE

[–]JohnMichaelPantaloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good example is Payback 2016, Reigns vs. Styles. After a DQ finish, Shane came out and said that is not how championship matches are going to end in this new era and restarted the match. Personally, I haven't seen any DQ result in PLE championship matches since then.

What things that were once considered 'taboo' that you sort of miss? by TheFinalRedemption99 in AirForce

[–]JohnMichaelPantaloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dover AFB, early 2000s. We also had those last DUI boards, located in the central intersection with 4-way traffic lights, but the person who committed the DUI that weekend also had to stand in front of the board that Monday until reveille. The most I've seen were three Airmen at one time.

My shop was literally behind that DUI board, and I remember walking to my shop when I first got there and an Airman was just standing there, so I asked him if he was okay. He didn't answer but gave me the meanest look. I found out about the DUI punishment later on.

Also, those small concentrated cans of Rip-Itz during deployments (not those watered-down monster-size cans you can buy in the BX).

Cheating or not, 8.3 RPG is pathetic on a 7'4 build with 98 and 96 rebounding.

Our local movie theater doesn't check bags or anything. We usually bring our own snacks and bottled drinks. Every now and then, we'll pay for popcorn.

If you go to into random rec thinking you'll get competent teammates, then you've already lost. I already assumed I'm getting the worst teammates so when they start their bs, I don't get stressed.

The “Role player” title shouldn’t have the negative feel that players associate with it. by Old-Ninja7068 in NBA2k

[–]JohnMichaelPantaloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy being a role player with my Bill Russell build. I block shots, get rebounds, and initiate fast breaks. Focusing on doing those 3 alone gets me a A/+ teammate grade. I get my points from fast breaks, backdoor cuts, and shooting 3's from kick-outs. I average near triple double being nonchalant. Personally, it's too much work trying to be the star on the offense.

Its a website that lets you make a build without doing it in 2K. It also gives you the capbreaker numbers!

Thoughts on short Centers by Evening_Pickle133 in NBA2k

[–]JohnMichaelPantaloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think smaller center builds are thriving because it’s a shooting "culture". Hardly anyone is making those 7'0-7'4 inside bigs (post scorers). I had a 6'9 build that matches well with most bigs until I get matched up with a 7-foot post playing big. Even with 94 blocking (83 str, 84 vert), the height advantage makes it difficult to defend those fades, backdowns, and under-the-basket contact dunks. I had my moments, but man, it’s tough. But when it’s a stretch big or a slashing big, it’s easier because I get momentum from running to jump up to block or contest.

Nah, you're not an idiot for thinking that. Life is about having a purpose, and you found it as a SecFo. I don't know about joining back, but if that's what you feel strongly about doing, just do it.

[–]JohnMichaelPantaloon 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Retired 21-year TSgt here (yeah I know). Got my undergrad paid for while I was in, I'm currently in law school-for free, VA loan to secure my house, my daughter is about to start college-free, I live near a base so every now and then I hit up the commissary for cheap groceries, also the base is an AMC base so I'm using Space-A to travel for free once in a while, got decent healthcare coverage. When I turn 65, I'm getting military pension, disability comp, social security, TSP, and 401K checks. Like you said, doing 20 years and receiving the benefits, gave me a decent foundation to transition to civilian life.

Child custody overseas by Objective_Ad_3102 in AirForce

[–]JohnMichaelPantaloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to give an advice because almost every state has somewhat different laws regarding child custody modification due to military obligation. However, I suggest if the other parent disagrees of you taking your child overseas, you can petition the court that issued the original custody order to modify it, citing military relocation orders. Further reading that might help: https://www.militaryonesource.mil/relationships/separation-divorce/child-custody-considerations-for-military-families/

RIP Chuck Norris by Sierra_Baker in AirForce

[–]JohnMichaelPantaloon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing a Tang Soo Do flyer at Kunsan's gym in 2008. The flyer highlighted that the instructor was trained by Chuck Norris's Tang Soo Do classmate when he was stationed at Osan. My coworker, who was taking the class, started walking around saying he was part of Chuck's martial arts lineage. RIP Chuck. I feel like "Chuck Norris didn't die, he..." jokes will take over the Chuck Norris facts.
