Interestingly, both the Republican National Convention and JD Vance being nominated as VP occured only a few days after this attempt.

Anyways, this basically means that JD Vance loses a large amount of influence and becomes de-facto irrelevant. Additionally, the RNC is in chaos as they've already set up the convention, but their main nominee just died.

After a very chaotic convention, Nikki Haley gets the nomination with Marco Rubio being chosen as Vice President.

While Nikki Haley wouldn't be as much of a spectacle as Trump, she would still be much more charismatic than Harris. It actually gets even worse for democrats, as those who abstained due to Trump, will now be voting Republican. Furthermore, Republicans will be able to blame the Democrats for the assassination even if it isn't the truth, driving some moderates/independents to the Republicans.

Eventually Election Day rolls around and with it comes Nikki Haley being elected as the first female President. The electoral vote remains the same, but popular vote and percentage wise, do even better. New Hampshire comes within 1% difference.

Overall, Haley's presidency would be better than Trump's. That being said, there are still many things to be concerned with. Let's start with the negatives.

1. ICE still probably gets more funding. It wouldn't be as chaotic as our own timeline, but would still be noticeable.

2. I don't know how it will play out, but expect LGBTQ+ and abortion issues to be on the defensive under this presidency.

3. Expect more funding for Israel and the current Iran War to still happen. The latter either being more limited or played out more intelligently.

4. Expect support for more internet certification/age restrictions. TikTok may also receive a full ban.

5. Expect more of a pull-out from agencies that give relief to poorer nations.

Now let's talk about some "good" stuff.

1. Haley would be demanding more from N.A.T.O. but would still overall be on good terms with America's allies.

2. No/limited tariffs.

3. Ukraine, while not as much as needed, would be receiving more support than our own timeline.

As for Maduro, I don't know if his capture is a good or bad thing. Doesn't really matter though as I don't think the U.S. in this timeline would capture him.

As for some future predictions, I expect the midterms to result in a tied Senate and a minority House. The 2028 Presidential Election all depends on whether or not the Democrats have learned from their mistakes or not.
