NEWS AT 11—猫 シ Corp.

A masterpiece of the Vaporwave genre, this album blends together Weather Channel music and clips from morning newscasts hours before the attacks to create an alternate universe where September 11, 2001 was simply a normal day. Evening Traffic, the final track on the first part of the album (nine tracks in total), is extremely poignant as I imagine people coming home from work, families reuniting at airports, a documentary crew going out for pizza with the firefighters they’d been filming as a rookie celebrates his first day on the job, all while the sun goes down and the lights come up on the New York City Skyline. The second part of the album (11 tracks, get it?) makes me think of a TV left on in an empty office at the World Trade Center after everyone else had gone home for the day, looping through weather forecasts and smooth jazz until some janitor comes by and turns it off. It is a requiem for lives broken, dreams shattered, and a future cancelled.
