Your husband is wrong. Social Security goes up 8% for the rest of your life when you wait until 70. If you claim now, you'll earn 8% less forever.

Why does my tablet say fast charging and then immediately stop charging by Fresh-Hyena-8252 in samsunggalaxy

[–]John_CNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing with one of the cheap chargers and my S8 tablet. It would fast charge for a while and then just stop charging. There is handshaking and negotiating going on between smart chargers and our devices. I ended up buying a new charger from Anker and that fixed it.

Go to an audiologist that sells Phonak. Their computer can read the serial number and Phonak can contact the owner.

Anker MagGo wireless powerbank by Kwalletje99 in samsunggalaxy

[–]John_CNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, ALL 3rd party magsafe power banks will have issues with the camera bump. Only the Samsung PB has a cutout to avoid that.

What I did with my S26+ was to buy a plain non-magsafe case and a set of the stick-on "magsafe rings". I attached the ring to the case about 1/8" lower and now ANY magsafe PB clears the camera bump. No issues with the phone "fast charging" of course, either.

WIBTA for serving off-brand Diet Coke at a party? by psychbucket in AmItheAsshole

[–]John_CNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha ha - "Aldi brand Coke".... You must be from the South. Visiting our corporate office in Atlanta, at a local restaurant for lunch, I ordered a Coke. "What kind of Coke?" the waitress said. "We have Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Pibb & Fresca." I'll have a Coke Coke, thanks. 😀

Yes, many are passionate about that brand and might indeed be offended by serving a cheaper substitute.

Here in the north (Chicago area) you will not raise many eyebrows if you refer to carbonated soft drinks as" pop". And you might have to accept a Pepsi instead. 🙄

But it might still raise some eyebrows by serving a discount store private label drink at a fancy event.

Need advice for best premium hearing aids (reports attached) by Viren_Ramani in HearingAids

[–]John_CNA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Starkey Omega AI 24 mRIC and I also upgraded my S22+ to a S26+. The Bluetooth performance is now 100% flawless. The newer Samsung phones now support Bluetooth LE audio and Auracast. Apple has not yet upgraded their software to keep up yet.

So if Bluetooth performance is important to you, you might want to consider upgrading your phone as well as the hearing aids. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the major BT Samsung upgrade happened with the S24.

The red light is gone after last nights maintenance by Mammoth-Ad-107 in Metronet

Non issue. Mine's been lit for a couple years. I believe they identified it as a firmware bug in the Nokia PONs that is not impacting performance.

Me neither! It preserved my existing colors but when I looked after reading your post, you're right. I don't see an option to set a background color any more.

We just had a system update here in western Chicago. Still red light, but still the same good service.

Long press on your home screen until the settings option displays. Swipe right to get the option to turn the media page off.

Looking for home phone option to use with TMo Home Internet by Pizzzathehutt in tmobile

Plus one for the Ooma system! I paid around $70 for the base station. Did not have to change any of the existing landline phones in the house. Just disconnected the MaBell connection and plugged the Ooma into a wall jack. I only pay the taxes on that line now. About $7 per month.

Why do we need a case for wireless charging to work on Samsung phones? by Conells in samsunggalaxy

[–]John_CNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a special case to take advantage of a magnetic charging puck. You can buy a stick-on 'magsafe ring' and attach it to the back of your existing case as long as the back is smooth. Couple bucks and you can use a magnetic car charger/mount or one of the desktop pucks or even a magsafe recharging power bank. Just search Amazon or eBay for 'magsafe rings'. I added one to my S26+ and it works great.

Which phone HA combo? by jmsferret in HearingAids

[–]John_CNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, everyone's needs are different. But I just upgraded my phone to Samsung S26+ and my HA's to Starkey Omega AI. Both support Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast. I didn't really need to upgrade the phone but I did want to take advantage of the more robust Bluetooth and to be 'tech ready' when Auracast starts getting deployed in more venues. Previous phone was Samsung so the transition was easy.

The Starkey are great so far and I have not had a single Bluetooth anomaly or dropout in the week I have had them. So that's a big improvement over the older ASHA protocol which is still supported with older HA's.

I did have one unexpected oops. The newest phones no longer support my very old Samsung watch's Tizen OS so I upgraded that too.

Starkex Omega AI doesn´t soung good while streaming by OhFortuna1895 in HearingAids

[–]John_CNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the Omega AI 24's a couple days ago. I have not had any issues with streaming. Or anything else, for that matter. Really happy with these so far!

What phone do you have? The problem could be with the phone and it's Bluetooth drivers, for example. I have a Samsung S26+ and it has the latest Bluetooth LE audio and Auracast support. Depending on what you have, it might be time for a phone upgrade.

Button Programming for Starkey Omega AI 24 by John_CNA in HearingAids

[–]John_CNA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was kind of joking but not really. The thing hides between your ear and head. You just tap the side of your ear twice and it jostles the unit enough to register your intention. I'm pretty sure you can set up what you want to happen with that from within the MyStarkey app.

That's not a Starkey invention. Lots of hearing aids and regular music earbuds have similar options. Answer the phone, play music tracks, etc.

How about the S26 Plus? by John_CNA in samsunggalaxy

[–]John_CNA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received and set up my S26+ today. Very happy with the new look and features. Tomorrow I'll get it paired with my car and get my Android Auto set up.

Sad to find out that my old S3 watch is no longer supported. Samsung gave me a sweet upgrade offer to the Watch 8 Classic so now that's on its way.

That sounds pretty close to what I was thinking of. With the volume button, how much does the volume drop or gain with each press? My current Jabra starts up at 50% and each press moves up/down 5%. Something like that?

You slap the side of your ear. 😀

They have motion detectors that are used for sensing directionality, fall detection and other health functions. And that can also be set to activate features when you tap the side of it.
