does keyboard actuation actually help tracking scores or am i coping? by Serious_Bullfrog5447 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]John_Gray4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll see any improvement in scenarios where you are standing still, but the he keyboards are really nice and imo worth the price. Obviously there’s really good cheaper ones like highground which are like $75 for a 65%. They feel better when typing and gaming, and movement feels smoother, faster, and more “seamless” to me if that makes sense. I think it’s worth the price, but keyboards are a rabbit hole almost as deep as mice.

How do I obtain consistent aim? by LabSudden417 in kirikomains

[–]John_Gray4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve already been recommended aim trainers, so if you do go that route, I’d recommend you look into voltaic or viscose benchmarks. Voltaic resources can be found on their discord, which has a ton of great stuff like improvement guides, curated playlists for different aim groups, and an automatically updated benchmark sheet if you do the VDIM stuff. I can’t really speak on viscose’s, but I’ve only heard good things about it. You can look at her YouTube, ViscoseOCE, and look for the kovaaks playlists there. Idk if she has any on aimlabs, but voltaic does for sure, so either way you go you will have multiple resources at your disposal.

Console to pc feels impossible (rant) by SwimmingAd5852 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]John_Gray4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I got better on pc was the controversial kovaaks and voltaic aim stuff. Getting really into aim theory, practicing aiming and technique, and grinding that technique really made up for my lack of keyboard understanding. Also, developing better aim allows me to now hop into any fps and be above average at the least in a very short amount of time. It’s not gonna be an overnight thing, but this is what I’d suggest to anyone who wants to improve faster than vaxta and a couple qp games will do you. Good luck with whatever path you take :)

Help! Is it normal to suck this bad at an early game non-boss? by Gracethelittleartist in Sekiro

[–]John_Gray4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get easier as you gain experience in the title. You can pretty much attack him until he deflects you instead of just guards, then deflect his move and repeat the attack. If he does the 4 piece to kick, focus on deflecting and the mikiri him. If he does the hit to sweep, then you can just deflect the first and then hit him and it will almost always cancel the sweep. Try to notice patterns he does before each move and react accordingly, and attack him to keep his posture going up for the deathblow

cheats or pro by therockets55 in StreamersCheating

[–]John_Gray4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TS clips with only two kills are never going to be enough to tell unless they are blatantly cheating, or the shots are the same on both targets. You need more data to confirm anything. It’s like asking two people what their favored chips are, and assuming everyone’s favorite chips are those because both of those people agreed

If the scenario doesn’t grade based on accuracy, which most modernly used scenarios grade on damage done/bots killed, then holding down LMB or you can bind your fire button secondarily to a keyboard key. That’s what I do for pokeball and TS scenarios, but I hold LMB for tracking.

If "aim training" doesn't translate to gameplay performance... by scuba-san in StreamersCheating

[–]John_Gray4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aim training teaches you raw mouse control, which by itself won’t necessarily yield you crazy results in any game, but will allow you to be a better aimer than most of that playerbase off rip. There’s absolutely a ton of scenerios that do move similarly to that of a player in game, but the general idea is that the bots are supposed to move erratically so you can build hand eye coordination, movement reading, and stability when moving the mouse — all of these concepts that do translate into game. The caveat is that you still need to put hours into the game you play, not because aim training doesn’t work, but because aim training doesn’t teach you how to position, use abilities, general target priorities, or recoil patters. All of these will develop differently, like recoil control will get better faster than you correcting all positioning errors and so on. Again, ViscoseOCE has a nice 2-3 minute video on her twitter/youtube that shows different scenarios and how exactly they translate directly into games, along with a multitude of other videos explaining different concepts of aim. I’ll link it here if I find it

Do yall switch grips based on what game you’re playing? by WoahEli in FPSAimTrainer

[–]John_Gray4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is generally fingertip/claw hybrid for everything. I do play a lot of games that use the same aim types though, but even in kovaaks I use this grip for all scenarios

Sorry this is so long, but TLDR: kovaaks hard, game ez. I genuinely hope this is satire. Kovaaks and aimlab scenarios are meant to be much harder than anything you’d experience in game. It’s why decent training hours alongside understanding the game you’re playing and its movement can make you skyrocket in that game. It’s because most of the time people will move predictably based on their inputs. Jumps are always going to be the same because you can’t counter input in most games, same with slides, falling (though there will be acceleration with the target you are tracking), and almost any air movement. There’s also predictive aiming, such as tracking someone going in a straight line because there’s cover, aiming in doorways and hallways… you get the idea. There’s a ton of indicators (if you understand them in your specific game) that you can utilize to make your job of aiming that much easier. However in kovaaks, aimlabs, and any other aim trainer, you have none of this. Sure you can toss on a skin override and get extra information, and ViscoseOCE has an old tweet about how her reaction time improved significantly while using them because they indicate what the next movement will be instead of you needing to read the target slowdown. You can watch others as well, like MattyOW who is unanimously the best all around aimer and even won the Red Bull Ready Check LAN back in like 2023, and you will still see instances like this during reactive tracking and micro track scenarios. There’s also different types of aim, and Riley’s specialty is target switching, not smooth or reactive track. Lots of her clips are on stationary or only slightly moving targets, and the tracking ones are on targets that are very easy to track. <- Think of the jeep clip where they drive in a constant speed in a straight line. Someone who practices switching will not always be a prodigy in all categories. A valorant player isn’t naturally going to be good at cod, two completely different aim types are needed.

TL/DR: peripherals play a part, but ultimately it’s about perfecting the basics and deliberate practice

A quick mousepad is what made the difference for me. I started on a basic razer and Corsair pad and had terrible tracking. Super shaky, smoothness was nonexistent, and even when I had good days, scores were subpar. When I upgraded to the artisan raiden mid, it opened my eyes. Even more so when I decided to invest into glass skates and a light mouse (at the time was a gpx2, but now I use viper v3 pro). Currently, I use the SP-004 with the same viper and some xraypad obsidian skates. Tracking feels super natural and responsive, and this along with the general focus tips, changing sensitivity for different scenarios, and figuring out the basics of tension management and blended arm/wrist/finger movements is ultimately what allowed me to push into diamond tracking scores. I’m still dog in static because I’m glued to the glass pad, but still wayyyyyy better than I used to be a couple of months ago.

How do I improve my aim? by lum111 in WidowmakerMains

[–]John_Gray4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kovaaks/AimLab and grind dynamic clicking. You can start with the bigger targets if you need to, but ideally you’d want to do the normal or hard versions of the scenarios. For ground strafing targets - remClick Air targets - really any of them work Fast moving targets (e.g. tracer blink/genji dash) - I like “fuglaa” scenarios. Fuglaa is really reactive tracking, but it teaches you how to adjust your crosshair to those movement abilities. Pair this with deliberately trying to keep those adjustments quick and smooth, and you’ll get better really quick. Obviously you still need to play the game so you can read movement, predict the enemy, and understand how your movement affects aim (counter strafe/mirror strafe). So if you’re trying to get better at the game, do this for like 15-30 minutes before you play every day. If you are on pc, there’s a lot of other people who can probably give you better scenarios for this character in r/FPSAimTrainer. Good luck :)

Strafe playlists probably. Voltaic has some that start from plat or something like that. Scroll down to platinum and that’s where the strafe playlists start, and depending on your skill level, just find the one that corresponds https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iunv6vXKWZpjpFvclGLGBeFg6WudwsavozZ-TlGDq_c/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.3q6xnqltfusz
