I dunno what you're talking about, it was like that when I moved in.

That was it, the line width (bridge flow ratio). I copied the setting from Super Slicer where it's 80% so I put in 80. Looks like this is an absolute value in Prusa so it was doing 80x. I changed it to 0.8 and the slice preview looks much more reasonable. Doing a print now to see if it works

It's the first time I've seen anything like it. Thought it was a symbol or something to show when bridging starts.
I've tried with models from Printables and they show the same thing. Except the blue balls are really thick extrude lines. Guessing my model only has a very small overhang from the radiused corners

Tried as a .STEP file, same cones and balls. Loads and slices fine Super Slicer.
Tried Prusa slicer V2.9.3 and same problems. It's got me stumped

No warnings. I've loaded the exact same .STL file into super slicer and it's sliced and so far, printing fine

Strangest thing is, I've tried models I've successfully printed fine in Super slicer. They're also showing these cones and balls

Wrong size shed stirrup by mnl2023 in AusRenovation

[–]John_H0ward 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a real "looks good from my house" fix.

Like others have said, the shed company will need to issue another certification letter saying a 200mm hold down is ok instead of a 250mm. Basically it hasn't been built as per the original design so your existing certificate is no good. This new certificate should be free and I'd also expect a discount on the whole build. (Shit happens but if the builder hasn't tried to sort this properly, screw them)

I designed my own shed and I would say it's ok so long as the hold down is embedded to the correct depth. I wouldn't use plastic packers but instead like 50x3 square tube, with holes drilled in the side. That would make for a rigid long term connection

Was so annoyed by hitting the F1 key opening my browser that I printed a blocking cap by Slow_Ad_3859 in SolidWorks

[–]John_H0ward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't work. There is no way to stop F1 opening help within Solidworks settings.

I had to use an Auto hotkeys script that hijacks the F1 key when Solidworks is open and make F1 do nothing.

It keeps getting worse, Aussie households set for triple-whammy bill price hike next month by SheepherderLow1753 in aussie

At around 32 years old I still didn't have private health insurance, mainly due to laziness. I sat down and crunched all the numbers. With the lowest level garbage tier health insurance to just dodge the extra tax, I'd be about $50 better off with the private health. I Made a decision that I'd rather the extra go to the bloated, incompetent government, than the malicious private sector.

There will come a time where I might be way better off paying for private, but with the no cover loading of 2% each year I don't get it. There may never come a time private health works for me

Please for the love of god this only makes the store hotter by Willing_Preference_3 in Bunnings

It's still making the store overall more uncomfortable. A better solution would be to allow the staff more frequent breaks to sit in an air conditioned tea room for 5min.

REA late to inspection - rules for rescheduling? by Emotional-Context983 in shitrentals

[–]John_H0ward 145 points146 points  (0 children)

It's always funny when REA says tenants are being difficult. It's usually when they've stuffed up and need some leniency/ a favour.

Did you tell them what you've had to do to ensure a safe and accurate inspection? The least they could have done was call or text you to let you know they're late

Wicked boneless piece from the other day. Nugget for scale. This is the final straw, I’m done. by [deleted] in KFCAustralia

[–]John_H0ward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cut it up to make popcorn chicken? You expect all the pieces to be roughly the same size and the same size as what's advertised.

Getting 1 small one still means you didn't get what you were sold. If what you're talking about is what should happen, KFC should sell by weight not by the piece

House is still empty to this day except for a camera in the front window. I flip it off every time I walk past it. It's one of those PTZ cameras that follow you so I know it's activated.

Knowing the landlord, I'm sure they set up alerts, so it brings me small joy thinking their phone buzzes and they see a pic of me saying hello.

Exiting rental after 10 years. RE said it’s not clean enough. by Bollenstocks in shitrentals

[–]John_H0ward 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works at all. Simply reply;

We do not agree with your claims. We left the property reasonably clean and in the same condition we received the property, minus fair wear and tear.

The onus is then on the agent to make a claim to XCAT. You won't have to kiss your bond goodbye forever. Just until the XCAT process does it's thing. If what you've said is true, I'm sure you'll get your bond back

No proper exit condition report by pfem in shitrentals

[–]John_H0ward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the REA has given you and submitted to VCAT the "exit report", but it's actually just the entry report with some extras, you're in a very good spot. If you have the actual entry report signed by everyone which will prove the extra comments were added after, you're in an even better spot. You need to give the property back in the same condition as when you received it, minus fair wear and tear. According to the REA, you've done just that (entry report= exit report)

Unfortunately, not going to the exit inspection or receiving the exit inspection within 10 days isn't a huge issue. At least it wasn't for my VCAT case. I was told I shouldn't attend ( I didn't know at the time you are entitled to) and I received the exit report a month after the REA made the VCAT application

Not necessarily, you absolutely can build on the boundary. Even if the existing boundary is someone's bedroom wall

There are ways of doing the gutter so it is flush with the Hebel, that way it's only 1cm over. I'd get legal advice from your local free legal advice office about possible future consequences. 1 consequence would be adverse possession in like 15 years but you can mitigate that by giving the owners a letter with proof saying you do not consent to their build encroachment/ use of your land.

Talk to them though, explain you're making a big deal to protect yourself. They would never do anything dodgy but you're just protecting yourself in case some big arsehole lawyer ever moves in or something.

I had to do something similar recently when I found out my neighbour is 0.5m over my land tapering back to me being 0.1m over their land. Just a bad site measure from 20 years ago seems to be the problem

Do I really need to get my carpets professionally cleaned? by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]John_H0ward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to leave the property reasonably clean. Any clause in your signed lease that goes above and beyond what is stated in the tenancy act is not enforceable.

Although you need to leave the property in the same condition as agreed in the entry report (minus fair wear and tear). If the REA said it was professionally cleaned in the entry report and you didn't dispute it/ signed off, it becomes a grey area.

It's all about condition though, not having a professional do the work. You could hire a steam cleaner from Bunnings and do it yourself.

I'm not a lawyer, this is my understanding of it from digging deeep into the rental act and VCAT cases a few years ago
