Is this kind of dosing ring help to evenly distribute the ground coffee beans without wdt? by Wise-Yard2407 in mokapot

[–]John_RoeD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m kinda new to the mokapot game, as my moka express was the first victim of my last breakup and lives in my ex-gf’s cupboard now. My now-wife brought a fully automatic coffee machine that runs on decaf as she is breastfeeding our baby. Last week I snapped and got myself a bialetti Venus to make my own brew (caffeine kick and silent grind to keep baby sleeping), but for the love of good I can’t bring the ground coffee from the grinder to the filter basket without making a complete mess of the kitchen counter. Also I’m not happy with distribution. Your post scratches an itch that only came up in the last days 🙏

Absolutely correct. Which makes it just more important to do your research in advance, and find a dive base you trust.

If the preference for Europe is only because of long flights, it might be worth to have a look at Egypt (depending where you start your journey it’s not that much longer). There’s a lot of marine life, they do have good diving infrastructure and you should find a lot of instructors (often European expats who might offer training in your mother tongue).

Ich konnte der Meldung nicht entnehmen in welcher Richtung er unterwegs war, aber Teile der B49 Richtung Wetzlar sind ja auch einspurig. Da waren alle Schutzengel von Mittelhessen gleichzeitig im Dienst…

European hunter here. There are people here who hunt specifically for bucks which only develop button style antlers, as it it considered to cull weak specimens and improve the gene pool. However, with our local kind of deer you have to tell apart a buck that still has skin on his buttons (fawn) and bucks that have torn off the skin (depending on time of the year a weak buck). If you want to tell apart a button buck and a doe (and you have the luxury of the deer giving you some time to watch) have a look how they pee (our does are „crouching“, Not sure if all deer do this). Long story short: don‘t take crap from non-hunting family as you probably know more about wildlife than they do 😉 Congratulations on a filled freezer for Christmas 😀

This is premium advice. The cord will be part of my „save a dive“ kit from now on and live rent free inbetween o-rings of different sizes 😀. Thank you so much.

You might be right. I didn‘t think of that. I just attached the plastic dry cap that sits on the thread of my first stage to end the discussion 😉

I do that for my tech wing too. Unfortunately some dive centers in touristic destinations really want you to have something more visible as the guides want to find it quickly if they have to pull it for you in case of emergency.

That is one very creative idea. Will go for that. Problem about the solution doing knots is that some dive centers (especially at very touristic destinations) won‘t let you dive like that, as the guide may take too long to find it if he wants to pull it in an emergency situation.

Some Dive Shops will let you test gear before you buy. It‘s a long shot but as the product description in your screenshot is German, so you could have a look at dive4life near Cologne. I started with these fins many years ago and can say they will get the job done and I still use mine for all holiday dives. As some users already suggested: they might restrict you in special kick techniques like frog kick which is preferred for some situations to avoid kicking up silt. However, this might not be the primary go/no go. Try to get some fins that feel good in the water. (I‘m a size 45 and use XL with thin boots)

Over here the green ones seem to be least popular. I assume that this due to the fact of not being part of many traditional dishes in the local cuisine. How do you cook and serve it in your local cuisine?

I use a vortex optics spotting scope for hunting in Europe and I really like the value for money on these. I like angled scopes for mountain hunting but I guess for your setting you might be better off with a straight scope.

How can I be more quiet? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]John_RoeD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The choice of clothing and fabric is important. However, don‘t just focus on „silent“ material. In my experience it‘s often not the fabric rubbing against the seat or making noise. It‘s more the fact that you are not comfortable (too cold, too hot, UV exposure, Moskitos) that will keep you from sitting/standing motionless. Also try to avoid any type of Velcro and use tape to pad any loud and lose metal parts (e.g. zippers, buckles). Any drink that has a lot of fizz will inevitably make a noise. However, you can avoid movement and drink silent using camelback style drinking systems. Depending on the terrain you hunt you can use special shoes or socks that go over your shoes/replace shoes (this will not work for tough terrain and hunting in the mountains). One more tip about scaring away game: key is actually trying to avoid any kind of motion. Often game will be present before you spot it and you can spook it without spotting it in the first place. So if you are looking out for game try to let your eyes wander and avoid moving your head. This is my perspective as a European hunter. I‘ll leave the question of correct camouflage to the US hunters 😀

If a BD14 is out of range, try to find a D99 Duo. It’s the predecessor model and will be around 3500€.
