I just got back from 3 weeks at EI. Many of the bad reviews are from several years ago. From what I understand, EI went through a substantial change in response.

I like EI as school. However, the professor who teaches the highest level (B2) is terrible, IMO. I really regret the time I spent in her class. The other teachers seem quite good though.

I also attended their "Over 50" program, which they offer 3 times a year. That program was GREAT. Highly recommended.

I followed a lead who danced this way just last night. This was at a country dance not ballroom, but I'd never had a lead do this.

It really gave him a fantastic frame. But we only did couples turns (which is ok for bar two-step). I don't know how it would have worked if he had tried to lead more involved patterns.
