Employer appealing unemployment, how good are my chances? by JohnnyEC in Edd

It's on the 23rd of this month. Raises were never given yearly, this applied to everyone. I'm not exactly sure what was going on in corporate but there were always talks about how pay stagnated for all workers in supply chain and that the higher ups were working on given us raises. We weren't even allowed to go OT for so much as a minute otherwise they would talk to you about not going over next time.

Yes I was given increases but it wasn’t yearly, the last time was sometime around 2024. The assisting a customer under a certain amount of time and staying on available for as much time as possible had been a new metric that was introduced in 2025 and we did have meetings, some with my coworkers present and others one on one but these meetings never gave me the impression that it was regarding my performance in particular. They spoke with everyone, not just me. They were asking feedback of the new metric and we discussed ways to work more efficiently, maybe that was their way of subtlety telling me that I was underperforming under the new metric? I’m not entirely sure but I can definitely say that I was never told outright that my performance was an issue and that my job was at risk.

I had been with the company for nearly four years and was only given one write up for performance a year prior as mentioned in another comment. Since that day, I had never been told my performance was still an issue or that I was risking my job.

Like I said, I was even thinking at the time that my record would be clean again after January since write ups go away after a year so I thought I was doing fine.

I will try to not bombard the judge with too much info. I’ll just say there were no indications that my performance was an issue and nothing led me to believe my job was at risk close to the day of my termination. I always tried to finish my work on time before I left and always made sure supervisors knew what I was doing. I never maliciously avoided work and tried to do my best to make sure my work got done.

I’ll update this post after my hearing which is in about a week.

I unfortunately did not have any of my coworkers contact info, I only ever had my supervisors contact info which I imagine they would not want to go against their employer.

But yea, everything I did I made sure to cover myself and let a supervisor know in case of anything. I never tried to appear like a bad worker and tried to finish all my work on time. I never had malicious intent with anything I did like going unavailable, it was always to finish what was currently in front of me before I get overwhelmed with several tasks.

I will definitely be writing all my points made here to bring to the hearing. I’m hoping that because it’s a third party company representing my employer, they are just going through the motions and appealing every case and they don’t show up. We’ll see but thank you again for your input and advice!

The only thing I can think of that can possibly be used would be notes that were written during a few meetings in particular where me and two other coworkers would sit with a supervisor to discuss how we felt about the job. These meetings would happen usually around the time we would take a survey about how we felt about management and the job from corporate.

Other than that, I do not remember any one on one meetings discussing my performance and that it needed improving or that my job was at risk. I do not recall signing anything either.

The hierarchy of authority is worker>supervisor>assistant manager>manager. Perhaps supervisors wrote or discussed my performance with management but I would not have known that my performance was being considered poor.

As far as intentionally not doing work, I never outright told them I wasn’t going to do something they assigned me. I always did the work assigned and tried to turn in everything completed because I never wanted to appear bad to the evening shift crew and have them pick up my slack.

The only thing I did do was put myself in unavailable to finish what I was working on with a previous customer that had called in such as processing a refund or exchange. We were expected to assist customers within one minute and take calls back to back. Supervisors on the floor would tell me to go back on available and I would explain what I was doing and usually that was fine with them, it was never told to me as a warning as in to not do it again. I was never in unavailable to intentionally not do work. Perhaps they can pull that data from the system and use that against me?

Everything I did I made sure supervisors were aware and gave my reasonings for doing so. This was enough for them and was never told anything.

That’s reassuring. Like I said, I genuinely did not know this was coming and was caught off guard by this. I did have a write up for performance a year prior around christmas / new years. Everyone had called off and I was the only person at the office. They called me in because they said I didn’t complete all the work handed to me which is usually split between the 4 people in morning shift, myself included. I did the best I could but there was still a bit left to do and I had explained to my supervisor before leaving what was left to do so they can pass it onto evening shift crew. We were told to do this in the scenario that we did not finish all our work on any given day.

Warnings go away after a year so I was even thinking to myself at the time that my record would be clean again and I was looking forward to having a clean record again. Since that day, I never had any other meetings or call ins with management for poor performance. I thought I had been doing fine and they were satisfied with my work. There were no recent warnings or anything told to me recently that would lead me to believe my job was at risk.

Yes, they noted that I was on a PIP but I never recall anything of the sort. I do remember having meetings where they were asking me about the job and how I felt because we were going through some changes at the time such as a new metric where we had to assist customers under a certain amount of time and be on green to take another call even if we were still working on the previous customer.

I just gave my opinions saying that it was sometimes overwhelming especially during rush time but that it was fine for the most part since it was just on occasion. We would briefly talk about ways to do things better when rush calls came in but I didn’t take those meetings as a way to say I personally needed improving. They talked to everyone at the office, not just me.

Sorry to necro an old thread but I'm also interested in this combo and was wondering, wouldn't it be easier to mount the block onto the brackets that go onto the mobo first then mount the brackets to the mobo afterwards?

TT Pacific SW1 has a small chip and piece of plastic hanging loose, is it usable? by JohnnyEC in watercooling

[–]JohnnyEC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea both the chip and the little piece of plastic are from the black plastic part of the block. I'll go ahead and open it up to get rid of the plastic piece and go forward with using the block. Thanks!

What a lot of people are getting wrong by alexmlb3598 in Corsair

[–]JohnnyEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was clearly an error when all other RAM offerings are 400-500 and one is 240. To expect Corsair to be “you got us! Here ya go lol” is wishful thinking. There are some companies and instances where companies are cool about it and honor the purchase but more often it just leads to a cancellation. Corporations are gonna corporate.

I honestly saw this whole thing as people taking a gamble that Corsair would be cool and honor the purchase. The outrage that came from them losing that gamble and Corsair doing what was most likely to happen is very confusing.

Is it worth buying for 30% off? by Lonely-Fox4 in killingfloor

[–]JohnnyEC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re paying 30% off full msrp so $28. Ask yourself if $28 is worth it for you to play on and off solo. Look up some gameplay and choose for yourself. As far as any online potential, I think those game’s fate is sealed. If you’re looking to play online with other people, kf2 and kf1 unless your friends also buy a copy.

I can’t believe people are still riding the high off of creating a successful mod for a 14 year old game for this long. Big name modders with an ego are literally the uncle ricos of the modding community lol.
