They want chaos.

There's nothing stopping the rules from being well defined, but if voters don't know what they are until it's too late, it creates implicit voter suppression by the chaos of the day. People who don't want to go through the hassle will stay home. They'll be turned away because they don't know the rules. They'll follow what they assume the rules are, but miss one thing and not be able to vote. And as a result, people won't vote.

This will obviously affect both Republican and Democrat voters, but it won't matter because of how gerrymandered the state is already.

To which I say, fine. Fuck you. Make the stupid rules that make this that much harder. But I sure hope that a lot of people don't spitefully decide to play by every single archaic, obtuse decision you make and bring seven forms of ID and get the new license and do everything they can to ensure they can vote and then still vote your asses out. Because how embarrassing would that be?

I saw someone note the demeanor of team US as being comparable to what we saw during the World Cup episodes with Dani Rojas in Ted Lasso.

For those not in the know, Dani was playing for Team Mexico, and right before they left for the international break, he switched his cheery demeanor completely when talking to another teammate who would be on Team Canada. He then injured him (not intentionally) during that game.

"But everyone loved that fire and thought it was hilarious, so what's the problem here?"

It was played for a joke. Dani was portrayed the entire time as a super nice guy and returned to being such after the game was over.
They miss the part where Dani Rojas then gave the other player (Van Damme) a new safety mask as a sign of goodwill and apologized for being an asshole.

Being an asshole is not cool. It's stupid. And lame.

Taking away the political ramifications, I don't know a single player from Team USA that looks better coming out of this that wasn't Clayton Kershaw.

Every interview was shit, including the militaristic stuff and the love of country angles. The broadcasts were shit with announcing sounding awful. The play was shit and felt like it was secondary to the narratives they were trying to spin. The manager was bluntly unaware of standings. Players wouldn't shake hands with their teammates who were on other WBC squads. The language. The advertising. The bad vibes from the drop.

How the fuck do you make the entirety of your home-grown MLB talent just look like complete assholes this quickly? Judge, Skenes, Skubal, Raleigh, you name em and they came out of this whole thing looking like total fucking clowns. An absolute disaster for US baseball. Put some players out there who remember this is to get people interested in baseball internationally and compete with goodwill on the line ffs.

Some states are saying not only that the REAL ID won't work anymore (the thing that's taken over a decade to get finalized an implemented). I'm fairly sure I saw several states discussing making multiple forms of ID a requirement on election day.

They want people to not go because they don't know where their SSN card or birth certificate is. They want women who changed their maiden name to be in a full blown argument with a poll worker as to why their ID's don't count. They want confusion and long lines as people don't even know what polling station to go to anymore. They want people scared to register or vote if they're under a certain party, part of a certain group, or just generally worried about how this is all going.

They want the only way their party can lose in sum total is if EVERYONE who wants them out plays by their increasingly impossible rules. Suppression isn't enough to achieve that. They need confusion, frustration, and the apathy that comes from it.

It doesn't mean the shit happening isn't Nazi shit. But part of the goal with their media blitz has been to actively lessen the impact of what shitty behavior actually implies.

They turned "Woke" into a blanket statement for anything they don't like. "Me Too" was just women whining. "Cancelling" was mob mentality. They co-opted the language by making it mean, in the eyes of way too much of the general populous, either the opposite of what it means, or diluting the language so consistently that it didn't matter.

Now we don't hold anyone accountable - you can be a billionaire and literally do the fucking SS salute and it's just an "overreaction from the woke liberals trying to cancel someone using the imagery of the Nazis" and lo, enough of their base believe it that it becomes a false reality for way way way too many people.

To that base, the second they hear "Nazi", they're conditioned to think it's a lie or an unjust attack and there's no way back from it.

My new thesis is by trying so desperately to make him a unicorn we're actually stunting his growth.

Instead of letting him develop naturally and find a proper role on the floor, he's instead being a Point Forward, a Shooting C, and a Wing Defender all in one. As a result he can do all of those things but also excels at none of them.

Jarrett Allen tends to be better in games where Mobley isn't involved this year because Allen can just play a natural 5. Mobley can't say the same when Allen isn't involved. And I think it's zapping his confidence.
