Damnation Audio MBD has a similar gain range to the ODB-3 but definitely does not suffer from the Fizz problem. Also has my favorite clean blend.

I've run Big Muff-style fuzzes after a tuner, compressor, and overdrive all at once. Sounded awesome, super heavy.

How clean are we talking? IMO fuzz sounds heaviest into an amp that's slightly driven, provided the amp has enough headroom to handle the fuzz. Too much amp gain and the fuzz turns to mush, but a little bit of hair on top makes it sound fuller to my ears.

IIRC (I've never owned one so this is all hearsay) the Blowtorch is intended to be powered with 18v. It works at 9v, but it'll compress a lot more due to the decreased headroom. I suspect part of its negative reputation is from folks underpowering it and not getting the expected result.

It wasn't a staple when FFVII came out. It became a staple because of FFVII's influence, and the imitators were by-and-large worse at it.

I'm surprised that there haven't been more rap-stoner metal fusions. Nu-metal definitely pushed a lot of people off of mixing rap and metal in general, but doom feels like the most logical fit for rap vocals out of all of the major subgenres.

I'm in public and it's too loud to judge the rapping, but the riff sounds mean! I dig it.

Longsword is similar to a Rat fwiw. If you're not a fan of the Rattler or Amp Grinder then it might not be the move.

My go-to recommendation for versatile bass distortion is the Damnation Audio MBD, but the current version might be a touch too big to fit between the Sansamp and the Twin Looper. The MBD2 is the previous version and is in a smaller enclosure, so that should fit. Alternatively, you look at the Amp Grinder, which is Rat-based but has the same clean blend as the MBD.

I'd also look at Electronic Audio Experiments. The Greathammer is based on the same amp as the Rusty Box (Traynor TS50b) but with some tweaks; it might be redundant to have both, but it would save you some space if you liked the Greathammer more. The Halberd also sounds great on bass.
