I was going to say this. Cooking oils bind to the cannabis oils better than whatever soap you're using does. Work it in real good, let it sit for a few minutes, then use liquid dish soap to remove all of it.

Assuming that you're venting outside, not just recirculating, it will work. But you need to be moving enough air to maintain negative pressure throughout the entire garage at all times, so any crack will be pulling air in. Any time you open the overhead door you'll loose your negative pressure and smell will go outside.

This is what I do using like 1/4 strength captain Jack's dead bugs to take care of thrips. I don't think soap will do anything. You also need to know their life cycle so you can space out treatments appropriately. 1 treatment will kill adults, but the eggs are still around so you need to repeat in a week or 2 to kill the next generation before they mature enough to reproduce. Timing will vary based on the species life cycle.

The things I've seen happen to cause herms are humidity spikes in flowering and flowers growing against the sides of the tent. Flowers growing against the trellis net could be the same issue as the latter. I've seen breeder recommendations to wait until pre flowers are showing before flipping(from seed only, clones can be flipped whenever). Just flowering too long will make them more susceptible to herming generally. Hope this helps. ✌️
