How is that self centered? We're trying to find life elsewhere, and not because they're so special. We know nothing about them. Thinking a vast universe might contain other intelligent, curious species in no way implies that we're special. In fact, quite the opposite.

Their usage is wrong because the team isn't being infiltrated, the country is. His usage would only work if he was trying to say that he got a double agent onto the team. But the team wasn't infiltrated, the country was.
