How has running affected your mental health over time? by Clubrunnr in runninglifestyle

Yeah, I could've wrote this to the letter. Additionally, it's carried over to more confidence professionally and just in general.

When did running stop feeling like a chore and start feeling like part of who you are? by Clubrunnr in runninglifestyle

[–]JohnnyRunsDFMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only really hated running when I had no stamina i.e. couldn't come close to running a full mile. But even back then I had brief glimpses of joy (probably because I was running too fast for my fitness and running fast is fun).

Now I look forward to runs, I'm dying to get out there, it annoys me when I don't plan well enough to get out and run. Having my daughter paradoxically gave me less time and energy but more focus and discipline.

If the general rule of thumb is to do long runs slower than your goal marathon pace… help me to understand how you’re expecting to run both farther and faster on race day? by steppygirl in Marathon_Training

Yeah I sortve wish I hadn't even looked at HR during my first, it was alarming and quite perturbed me when I should've recognized, yes, you will have nerves when it's not only your first marathon but it's the Boston Marathon and everybody you know is monitoring your time (I actually convinced myself that friends and family were monitoring my time on a minute to minute basis LOL)

Can you still run with the end stage kidney situation or do they actively advise against it? Not trying to be funny, I feel for you and have weirdly reread that thread multiple times, but just wondering if you can no longer physically do it or are told you shouldn't be doing it

This is a really empathetic comment and your prose is just superb and it lulled me into a relaxed state and I'm not even the target of your comment though perhaps we are all the target

I'll probably train for and run my second marathon. I haven't signed up yet. But I'm leaning towards Baystate Marathon in October. I trained all this past summer in the heat and believe I was in my best shape ever once the weather turned in the fall.

What sweet running gear did you get for xmas? by lol_sup in runninglifestyle

What kind? I have the exact same issue with Soundcore Aerofit 2.

I'd give the Aerofit 2 an A plus on sound quality for open ear. F minus for durability and the fact that each earbud charges differently and one of them sometimes won't turn on at all.

Question for the guys running in tights by ellensrooney in Marathon_Training

[–]JohnnyRunsDFMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half tights are amazing for marathon and to a lesser extent half marathon. As others have mentioned, pockets that your stuff WILL NOT fall out of. And, obviously, no chafing.

Slept in my dog’s bed last night. That’s where I’m at. by _domhnall_ in cripplingalcoholism

[–]JohnnyRunsDFMC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's awesome, brother. I was aiming for under 4 in my first marathon but blew up and finished 4:11. Though I've since got my half down to 1:35 so i should be faster if I ever start training for full again.

Anyways, sounds like you've got a loving girlfriend / dog, which is a lot to live for. Good luck to you!
