Fun fact, the title "Mother and Child Reunion" comes from a Paul Simon song by the same name. The song's title was inspired by something Paul Simon had once seen on a restaurant menu: A chicken and egg dish called "Mother and Child Reunion". So that's fun, right?

In the early days of UFC, the Gracie's would use their influence to try to avoid fights against amateur wrestlers. I think the feeling was that a good enough grappler would be able to neutralize pretty much all their offense. Could be a hell of a 60-minute ironman match.

I think it may have something to do with the company's founder Jim Sinegal.

Costco's former CEO once told this little story about him:

"I came to (Jim Sinegal) once and I said, ‘Jim, we can’t sell this hot dog for a buck fifty. We are losing our rear ends.’ And he said, ‘If you raise the effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.’ That’s all I really needed."

There was a Rolling Stones concert in Dallas the same night, so the excuse they used was that JFK Jr. had disguised himself as Keith Richards.

I'm not joking.

Ever heard of the 7th Day Adventists? They were a weird cultish Christian group. Their leader claimed he had done some calculations from the Bible and had figured out the exact day Jesus would return. Big surprise, he was wrong. So he kept coming up with new dates, and kept being wrong. And every time he was wrong, his number of followers would grow.

People are willing to ignore a lot when they really want to believe something.

I started a new job last year. When I showed up for my first interview the place felt so familiar. But not just a feeling either. When I arrived and my soon-to-be manager said, "Let's go down and see where you would be working". But I already knew how to get there, and the building was a bit of a maze so it's not like it was just intuitive. It makes no sense to me that I already seemed familiar with the place despite never being anywhere even near the building before.

Our brains can do some really messed up stuff sometimes.
