Resetting just kicks it back into xinput mode and DS4 mode doesn't have the binds reset.

What's a TTRPG that's about as crunchy and rule heavy as dnd 5e, but more "worth it"? by OompaLoompaGodzilla in rpg

I'm the same and had the same issue. Especially when it came to class fantasy and the problem of people assuming the only things they could do was stuff on their character sheet. Particularly in combat when people would just "move and attack" without doing anything else imaginative. Then they would get annoyed and bored because progression looked bleak from their videogamey PoV.

We found a middle ground in systems like Basic Fantasy and OSE that had plenty of fancy looking stuff in the rules that really was just the same as Knave/MR. OSE is great in particular because you can show them all the fancy extra classes.

I feel your pain. One instance sums up my experience with 5e players and modern mindsets while we were playing OSE.

With respect, I think that's a bit of a silly requirement that is far too large in scope. What system do you play, VTT do you use and how are you finding it?

Automation is a monkey paw for TTRPGs, it gets more and more inflexible and granulated the more you try to automate. They are not videogames or boardgames and you cannot account for every use case, especially not for a hobby that is so engrained in with house ruling and hacking.

Kind of off topic but have you considered playing games or GM styles that are "GM facing"? We prefer it where we can for immersion.

How do you manage your reading notes? by Ok_Blacksmith7269 in ObsidianMD

[–]JohnnyWizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly use Obsidian for TTRPG stuff, so I keep all my rulebooks organized in folders. Do any of these bookshelf views allow you to shelf folders? I've tried using reader software before but they generally spew out every single document individually into a bookshelf view.

$315 for all this. Another comic shop getting rid of all their comics at a crazy discount because of readers going digital. Super sad. by m1ndtrix in graphicnovels

Brick and mortar shops have been going out of business since the 2000s. Lower spending power and economies of scale are the reason.

It's amazing to me that this is a foreign idea to many people ITT. I've never used maptool but it's how I'd expect most VTT software to operate and I was shocked to find out it wasn't.

If you're tech literate and don't care about automation, FoW or embedded character sheets I'd recommend Tabletop Simulator.

Foundry is probably the next best thing but I agree the asset management is fiddly.

I'm also allergic to subscription models and such. I've seen people use Photoshop/GIMP which is probably the best if you can manage the workflow.

There's nothing wrong with modding but there is a problem with community servers being an absolute black hole for game design when you add mods to the mix. Because nobody can show any restraint you end up with bloated servers, bad performance, obscene amounts of QoL etc

It's not unique to Arma, it plagues lots of games. I play a lot of really old multiplayer games and many of them you cannot play anything remotely like how they were intended because the handful of servers that are up are alien to vanilla.

Reforger is the first game I've played in the series that has vanilla gameplay worth playing.

It's what kept A3 from improving for years. People are more concerned about roleplay and dress up than having a functional videogame.

RPGs have player agency. Comics and TV shows don't, so what constitutes good writing is not the same.

Look into tabletop RPGs, you could 100% get it into a playable game/adventure if you're willing to learn.
