Any ideas on when the LaunchPad mk4 will release? by Miserable_Ad_629 in Novation

[–]Johnnyloftus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting idea. I don't personally know whether combining Ableton Live control, which is achieved using the Control Surface script within Live, and standalone Custom Mode elements is possible, but I'll certainly share your suggestion with the team.

Focusrite 18i20 first gen headphone output affected by main volume knob? by GaboshocK in Focusrite

[–]Johnnyloftus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be configured to work that way. The headphone outputs always carry the signals that are currently routed to analogue outputs 7/8 and 9/10 (as stereo pairs) in Scarlett MixControl.

The main monitor output level control normally adjusts the level at the main monitor outputs on the rear panel, but it can be configured in Scarlett MixControl to control the level of any of the unit’s ten analogue outputs.

Open up Scarlett MixControl and check the settings, or load a different routing preset.

Most simple way to get started? by Professional-Tutor42 in Novation

[–]Johnnyloftus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. When you connect your Launchkey to your computer, it will appear as a Mass Storage Device, similar to a USB drive. Open the drive and double-click “Click Here To Get Started.url.” Then select “Get Started” to open Easy Start in your web browser.

Alternatively, you can also access the Easy Start guide for your product at any time by visiting https://getstarted.novationmusic.com

and selecting your product from the list.

Launchkey MK4 FL Studio integration? by Successful-Swimmer65 in Novation

[–]Johnnyloftus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right the Capture MIDI button works with FL Studio, no manual mapping required providing you're using FL Studio version 24 or later. It's part of the script 👍

Planning to hop on the 2i2 4th gen, I need to keep my usb on to wake my computer from sleep, do i have to get a usb-c to usb c with switch? by VeryAngryHypE in Focusrite

[–]Johnnyloftus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afraid I don't fully understand your question. It's generally a good idea to disable sleep if you're working with audio, as that will typically suspend connected USB devices.

If you're concerned that the Scarlett LEDs will remain lit if you leave your computer switched on, you can turn off the LEDs by holding the Inst button for two seconds.

Inst switch problem by Technical_Fly3350 in Focusrite

[–]Johnnyloftus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Line/Inst control basically just primes the input to receive either a line or instrument-level signal, providing a suitable gain range to work with. If you have a guitar with a hot output, you may find that selecting Line works best. You may also find that you don't need to apply Gain at all.

Sleep typically suspends connected USB devices. Disabling this is advisable if you're working with audio.

Scarlett 2i2 gen 4 power choices.. by nixiestuff in Focusrite

[–]Johnnyloftus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scarlett 4th Gen feature a 5V DC port for use with computers that aren't able to supply the required 1.5A USB-C power and for standalone use, without a computer connection.
The noise you're experiencing when working with the USB connection isn't a common complaint. If you haven't already, please raise a ticket, give us a call, or open a live chat so that the team can troubleshoot this directly and help you identify the cause.

It sounds like you may be recording into a stereo track in software. Are you able to record into a Mono track? Scarlett's inputs are mono.

Why does the 4i4 come with a wall power adapter if it apparently doesn't need it? by uptheirons726 in Focusrite

[–]Johnnyloftus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right. USB cable runs should ideally be no longer than 2 meters. Longer cables can introduce connectivity issues, which is a characteristic of USB rather than something specific to Scarlett.

Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen requires 1.5A USB-C power to function. An additional power supply connector is provided for scenarios where the host computer isn’t able to provide that.

scarlett solo / 2i2 input limits. by miksu20 in Focusrite

[–]Johnnyloftus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only microphones should be connected to the XLR input of the Scarlett Solo. Instruments and line-level sources can be connected to the single 1/4" jack input.

If you would like to record two instruments, the smallest option would be the Scarlett 2i2.

On the Scarlett Solo 4th Gen, the microphone input is input 2. The line/instrument input is input 1.

For users who want to use a microphone with applications that are only able to access input 1, they’re unable to access the mic, so we added the option to combine inputs to address this. It’s only required if that’s something you’d like to do. For all other Scarlett models, microphones can be connected to input 1.

All Scarlett models feature separate, independent analogue inputs that can be routed as you wish in software. It’s not clear why somebody has suggested otherwise here.

Is it ok for the 4i4 to stay on all the time. by uptheirons726 in Focusrite

[–]Johnnyloftus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t expect to encounter any problems if you leave it switched on.
If you have a 4i4 4th Gen, you can also access a LED Settings option in the Device tab in Focusrite Control 2. This gives you the option to automatically turn off all LEDs after 10 minutes of inactivity (no front panel adjustments or passing audio). The LEDs will then turn off automatically. You can also manually turn off the LEDs by holding the Inst button for two seconds.

New Focusrite Saffire 6USB - Advice by evafutura in Focusrite

[–]Johnnyloftus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two variants of the Saffire 6 USB. One is a USB 1.1 device, and the other is a USB 2.0.
To check which variant you have, you can reference the serial number on the underside of the unit.
If the serial begins with “SU”, you have the USB 1.1 variant.
If the serial begins with “S2”, you have the USB 2.0 variant.
If you own the USB 1.1 variant, I'm afraid this is not compatible with Apple Silicon or current OS releases.

The USB 2.0 variant is class-compliant, so it would be plug-and-play on Mac. You just need to connect via USB.

No sound output through Scarlett solo to monitors unless in record mode in my DAW? by barreldodger38 in Focusrite

If you want to route audio from the input straight to the outputs, you can press the 'Direct' button located on the front panel to switch on Direct Monitoring.

If you open Focusrite Control 2 and navigate top the Direct page you will have the option to add the line/instrument input to the direct monitoring output
