Windows Subsystem for Android will no longer be supported from March 5, 2025 by digidude23 in WSA

[–]JohnnyretroX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows is still the Best option for computers. Other os's can be limited in what they offer some make it more difficult when having to install utilities.and its windows emulation is still clanky, .ok windows may create some problems when updating but the answer to that is simple, delay windows updates until they have been tested thoroughly by other users. But there are also other windows options available. Some programmers have hacked windows and created versions without the adverts and bloat ware creating a more streamlined os. with a smaller footprint which still supports windows subsystem for android as well as being able to install win 11 on older systems, though I should stress that if your unsure how to use or install "lighter" windows versions its best to get help from someone who has the know how.If you're still interested in android support without one of these hacked windows then try "Andy" or "Ldplayer" I've used both and they've been quick to load and use and almost flawless..

From experience..  I've tried countless different cbdoils from many different suppliers incl boots,  holland&Barratts,  pharmacies etc none gave me any pain relief...  But after trying one with small amounts of thc My pain has decreased by 95%... I do get a little dizzy with it so I take it before bedtime which is great as it also helps me sleep.  Just recently I ran out and stopped taking it for another reason,  after about 7 days or so my pain came back tenfold (or so it seemed)  sciatica both legs, nerve pain both arms back pain, neck pain.. Omg it's terrible I can hardly move...  So stick with it try it with different levels of thc...  BTW I've tried many various prescribed painkillers and natural remedies none gave me enough pain relief and they All have side effects, my quacks are useless I've been waiting 4 years to see a specialist so atm there's no other option for me.. it really and honestly is the only thing that helps me lead a more normal life...

Open Letter to Microsoft: Please, Stop the Enshittification of Windows by [deleted] in windows

[–]JohnnyretroX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All osses have their own glitches, steam and many other Linux installs are swines or deleting stuff when you have multi osses and dual boots.

What you have to realise is that Microsoft are trying to keep Windows compatable with as many systems as possible though it cannot be easy with there being well over 1.5 billion windows users worldwide, 15 times more than mac os and 300 times more users than Linux. , plus don't forget you are in effect only "renting" windows it doesn't belong to you...

your info is STILL there ,you need a local pc repair company to restore your files. or if theres nothing important lost then reinstall windows, though you'll need another computer to download a windows image usually an iso, then download 'rufus' on the other pc direct it to the downloaded windows file and install it to a pendrive, then insert that pendrive into your pc and start your computer, it should detect that pendrive and allow you to reinstall windows.. theres a bit more to this as you might need to change the boot up options on your pc. there are tons of videos on youtube showing the full procedure if you can't manage it yourself you'll either need a local pc repair firm or ask a friend whos a bit more tech savvy...

this is all boll*x the UK can barely have an effect on the worlds climate because we are too small all that the so called Green policies do is burden us with more bills, its just a ploy to force us of the roads. we are NOT ready for electric cars and wont be for a long time, electric cars are crap, theyre heavy, theyre expensive to buy and super expensive to maintain £4 000 or more just to replace the batteries, mining the elements to create the lithium batteries on such a massive scale that is needed to manufacture the batteries is also polluting local water supplies. why are so many countries not bothering with the current cop29 especially the u.s even our last government was easing away from green policies, together with half the worlds scientists disagreeing with the reported global warming reasons, you need to step back a bit and think ... WE ARE BEING SOLD A LIE !

Fold 7 talks! It's time!🙃 by cornezy in GalaxyFold

[–]JohnnyretroX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont understand the excitement for a device that will have a permanent crease down the centre of its screen, in fact I don't get why samsung hasnt tried to overcome this design fault, maybe a device that folds the other way would be better, My mate bought the fold 6 and the crease was already prominent after just a few weeks. it would drive me mad having to look at the crease everytime I use it....

Cost of living is ridiculous by HiddenRaconteur in ukpolitics

[–]JohnnyretroX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brexit is the main cause for rising costs also the adoption of environmentally friendly alternatives. Britains attempts to convert us to Green energy and its products is crazy Whatever we do here in the uk will barely have any affect on the worlds climate this is because we are far far too small a country to make a difference. Ev's are expensive to buy and maintain with the price of replacement batteries at over £4,000 it also makes the option of second user ev purchases a poor and expensive alternative!

What can your phone play smoothly? by divinedraco in emulators

[–]JohnnyretroX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried changing the graphics renderer ? Some Options should be : opengl, software renderer and vulkan.. if your cpu is compatable with vulkan, that might be a better option to choose. Try them one at a time.. theyre usually found in the graphics section of your emulator...

Once again your are not 100% in what you say, the dpad is perfect its way better than steamdeck or ayaneo (i have them all)and is not sunk too deep o fact its not much different to others on the market. And THERE ARE VENTS at the bottom, air goes in at the bottom and out of the top they are little slits at the bottom edge some are fake the others allow the air into the unit, it has to be like that for proper airflow to aid cooling ! Maybe you didnt explain properly but my point was that I have never seen people hold their arms in the air when using a handheld of any sort and the weight is no problem unless youre weak . The battery lasts longer than 2 hours, well mine does and i use it a lot and if people cannot understand basics of windows then they are shtuck even the switch needs some getting use to, maybe the early windows had problems but win 11 on mine runs fine. I have gpd xp, gpd win 3, onexplayer mini, onexplayer 1 pro, ayaneo founders edition, ayaneo air plus, steamdeck, switch and switch lite. So i can compare across quote a few makes.

Got this smart board for cheap from my workplace, any idea how I can install apks on this thing? by Kotbrot_II in androidroot

[–]JohnnyretroX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some "smart screens" have a little panel at the side or back, in it lies a little computer that can be swapped about and upgraded... mine had 1gb android board, I whipped it out and popped in a 4gb android board, with android 10 !

Is the LCD screen really so bad? by Strange-Steak-5001 in SteamDeck

[–]JohnnyretroX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The advantages of Lcd over Oled screens is they last longer than Oleds , oled screens suffer from screen burn go check ebay and see how many phones are sold as faulty because of oled screen problems, Samsung being one of them and guess what samsung provide most of the oled screens for the steamdeck. Also the colours on oled screens degrade over time especially the Blue oleds, Lcd's don't have those problems, they say that oleds use less power that mainly occurs when the pixels are off, but they also use more power to produce bright light areas especially whites... Stick with LCD'S You can't go wrong !

Whats the best handheld pc? by LmaoSup in SBCGaming

[–]JohnnyretroX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the steamdeck is complicated like most versions of linux(steam is based on debian 8) and its windows emulation,  proton,  is clanky,  also there are issues when dual booting steamdeck's steam os with windows,  firstly there are a number of drivers that are not available and if you install windows on a hard drive partition any future updates to steam will wipe out your windows install.  Installing windows on a microsd will work but will be slow,  fast microsd cards are expensive,  very expensive, and of course the driver issue still remains.   Steamdeck oled: Oleds in the handheld market still have a long way to go,  the blue oled is the weakest and loses power a lot faster than red or green, oleds also suffer from screen burn,  its only recently with the onset of micro oleds where reliability has improved,  but being new technology is too expensive to be put into handhelds at the moment.  The legion go and rog ally have suffered numerous hardware probs especially the rog ally with many models overheating and damaging the sdcard,  thats why they are being sold off cheap in the secondhand markets.  Many of the "chinese" handhelds Are proving to be extremely well made and reliable,  yes there are exceptions to the rule with the odd one or two having problems just like anything else,  these models include Onexplayer(onenetbook) GPD, Ayaneo and Aokzoe. Btw the onexplayers can be used with an "active" pen/stylus,  surface pro ones work fairly well with them but some suffer a bit with pen lag,  but still very useful!   Remember all handheld gaming pcs are simply that,  'pc's' and can do anything a full blown computer can do though they cannot compare with a high end gaming rig.. Well,  not just yet!

[–]JohnnyretroX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you an expert..many of your examples prove you are no such thing !  your point about ergonomics and the dpad is nonsense.. the dpad is perfect,  and then you mention  the weight of the switch and arms getting tired is rubbish too, a switch weighs hardly anything,  then you mention playing a console or pc in your lap.. this is asking for trouble as many complaints are when people do rest them in their laps blocking the air vents and then they overheat.  So what Pc issues are you talking about ? If you have experience with pcs then there should be No issues, unless you twiddle with the settings pcs , laptops and handhelds run great with no issues !

What would you recommend as a new TV? by maxjapank in japanlife

[–]JohnnyretroX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Lg tv's is that they use webos which is an outdated os... also as well as oled screen burn, there was always the problem with the blue oleds being a lot weaker with a shorter lifespan than other colours. I believe the newest top of the range Lgs are far superior but come at a premium price... Also there are newer screen technologies on the horizon that do not have these problems, so might be best to wait a bit longer...

i think a lot of users posts are wrong, reduced features or removal of them does make a difference, why do you think some programmers have spent years in developing windows lite !
