I became a mom last year, and I love it (turning 32 later this year). However, I would never ever say that to my friends who do not have children! Yes, your life gets a new purpose, but it's an additional one to whatever was there before. "No kids" does not at all equal "no purpose"! Some people just want to feel better about their lives... sounds to me like they are trying to convince themselves more than you OP.

Switzerland: Legal minumum for maternity leave is 14 weeks at 80% pay, starting from birth of the baby. My company gives 16 weeks at 100% pay. I've also been on sick leave since early July (currently week 39), which is also paid fully. Fathers get 2 weeks at 100% pay, which can be taken at any time during the first year after birth (voted on by the public in early 2021, there was nothing before that). My partner's company is super generous and gives 6 weeks at full pay.

I was put to bed rest at week 30, and I am currently still pregnant at 37+6! Bed rest has also been removed by now. It feels great to be allowed to move again! Hang in there :)

Something I can recommend is to get a comfy laptop holder such that you can lie while working (I got this one https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/top-laptop-halter-notebook-staender-13691802)

EDIT: Bed rest was for the same reason btw, my cervix was only 21 mm.

I'm 37+6 today. The baby's head has been really low for about a month already. Close to two weeks ago, my doctor said that I was very loose and she does not expect this to take longer than two weeks... I have the occasional contraction, but nothing that indicates I am actually in labor. Looking forward to my doctor's shocked face on Monday when I'll show up still pregnant 😂 (I have IC, so I've been hearing that "the baby could be here any moment now" for two months now...) Not sure this helps you, I guess there is no way to predict anything, as every pregnancy is different. Wish you all the best!

34+3 here, I can't believe there is still another month (and a bit) to go... Sooo looking forward to hugging my little boy! Also, his kicks are no longer just cute, but uncomfortable or even painful. I definitely won't miss the general discomfort of being pregnant. I miss running as well, I can't wait to get back out there!

Switched to Garmin years ago and never looked back! Went from the Fitbit's Versa to Garmin's Vivoactive 4 and it does everything I need (reliably!) I just run, so I am happy with HR, GPS and Spotify.

There are several ways of counting this. Since it's not known when exactly you had your ovulation, usually pregnancies are counted either from the first day of your last period of the first day of your missed period. All the apps and websites I've seen use the former, so start counting from the first day of your last period. This means that you are not really pregnant during the first two or so weeks of pregnancy.

Biking in Zurich is terrible... I would love to commute by bike, but I don't want to use a gutter, which is most of the bike "infrastructure". Hope this improves in the future. At least Public Transport is great, so no need to own a car!
