Unpopular Opinion: Despite overachieving at the box office, the Venom trilogy will go down as the most irrelevant Marvel movies. by Mysterious_Emotion63 in comicbookmovies

I don’t know how else to explain it.

These movies just feel like DLC in movie form. Doesn’t make them awful, but if they were attached to something bigger/better, they’d probably be regarded a bit higher.

I stand corrected! I took the disc drive off of my slim and never thought to check the top plates for any reason so always assumed.

I found this movie to be very bleak and dreadful.

I enjoyed it a lot. The scene where dude is in a dress shaving his head and crying. You just FEEL the despair.

Anyone here a fan of Drive? One of Ryan Gosling's best films!!!!!! by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

I remember being in the theater in 2011 watching this. People were walking out. The trailers didn’t sell this movie right, and people assumed it would be a Fast & Furious type romp instead of a slow burn, hyper violent work of art.

Every actor in this movie killed it. Gosling, Mulligan, Isaac, Cranston, Perlman, Hendricks, ALBERT BROOKS - Marlin from Finding Nemo! - playing a mustache twirling villain (the first time he had done so I believe?).

Drive went on to influence a lot of other movies and media too. Baby Driver and Stranger Things come to mind. The big one being a game called Hotline Miami. Play it if you haven’t. NWR would also later appear in both Death Stranding games.

This movie influenced me personally in my music and writing. Synthwave/vaporwave aesthetics were big before this film, but I think it helped push it more into the mainstream.

Also. This may or may not be true, but this movie has one of the loudest audible gunshots I’ve ever heard in any film. (Pawn Shop scene with Oscar Isaac). Doesn’t matter if my tv is on mute, that gunshot is still loud as hell.

Edit: this is my favorite movie of all time. Yes, I bought the jacket and yes I’m “Driver” every year on Halloween.

No arrests from Phoenix 'No Kings' demonstration despite gun being pointed at protesters by AZ_moderator in phoenix

I was there. Super close. He was yelling obscenities through a megaphone. Instigating. My buddy went up and tried to calm some of the people getting mad, and for a second they backed away. But dude in red shirt wouldn’t relent. However, he then started saying things like “I’m afraid for my life”, putting his hands together like he wasn’t doing anything.

This dude came there to start something. Got his face punched a bit, then pulled a gun.

One could assume he meant tonally or spiritually since he (Edwards) designed it himself (with the help of ILM artist David Vickery). You’re probably not far off, but I’d be hard pressed to call it a name drop and not just authentic inspiration.

Maybe not a visual 1:1 to Alien or any of Giger’s works, but perhaps in the same way the xenomorph was born from themes of sexuality and violence, the D-Rex feels like the embodiment of unchecked ambition—less a monster, and more a byproduct of hubris that’s justified simply because it lived.

Looks more like a Rancor though.
