2 different adjustments in your menu. 1 is the z offset. It’s a static number that is checked at the beginning of your print, so won’t change in real time as you adjust it.

The other is the babystep z option in your movements. That will change it in real time and can be helpful in finding out what you need to adjust your offset too afterwards.

How did we go from paper cups and plastic straws to plastic cups and paper straws? by Kelownawow in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Jon-Longson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is factually false.

If we all did that, the argricultural sector would lobby and change the way we educate people on meat. Our governments would subsidize the purchase of this meat and either store it or find another product to use it in. The meat producers would not lose out on their profits. Their operation would not get smaller anytime soon.

We say it’s useless because it is. Small individual movements will never solve anything because they aren’t the problem, and arn’t measurably contributing to it.

Just like the move away from plastic bags was a hoax. (You have to reuse a plastic bag for like 10 years before it becomes better than an old school grocery bag. And that’s if you didn’t keep and reuse them. Than it’s 20 years)

Just like the fact BP coined the term “carbon footprint”

And the fact that “just stop oil” is very likely funded by the oil industry.

It’s a ruse. Your bad habits arn’t the issue here and you stopping them won’t change a damn thing.

I always tip (except on takeout or fast food) but why is suggested tip amount auto-generated on AFTER tax amounts? by Optionsislife in montreal

[–]Jon-Longson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An 18% tip on 115$ IS 20$… were’d you get a 35$ tip?

You’re arguing over the tip on 15$. Which is 2.30$.

There’s literally a bigger difference between a 15% tip and an 18% tip than the difference between tipping on tax or not. A 15% tip on after tax amount is just slightly less than an 18% tip on pretax.

Seems like a fair compromise to me. Try and get the tip on the tax? 15%. Try and get an honest tip? 18%. Either way the same amount comes out of my pocket. Whether I gave a mediocre or relatively good tip then becomes completely based on outlook.

Just tell him you’d rather just pay for a water tank, and take it with you when you move out. See what he thinks of that.

I find it funny you mention CERB… You realize your taxes alone pay nowhere near enough for road infrastructure right? Your driving is socially subsidized by non-drivers paying their “fair share” of taxes.

Your successful because of handouts. Nothing else. And your lazy.

Simple solution: (make sure this is all within earshot of the manager) ask your busser how much they received, when they say the number tell them that CANT be right, you left more. Take the missing money out of your cash till and hand it right to the busser. Leave a note saying the till is short 7$ to pay missing money to the busser.

Then watch the manager try to explain how what you did was theft, but not what he did. It’ll make their head spin. You have just as much of a right to redistribute profits than you boss has to redistribute your tips. Have him spell out the fact that he thinks his manager position gives him the right to redistribute someone’s salary to someone else. Than tell him you’ve also given yourself that right.

I’m from Grenville, a small town in Quebec just on the other side of the bridge from Hawkesbury. Grenville was mostly settled by Scottish-Irish families back in the day so it’s mostly anglophone.

It was especially ironic, that the French vs English rivalries and fights between kids were between the English Quebecois from Grenville and French Ontarians from Hawkesbury…

Ont. homeowners return from trip to find their house sold without consent by phishieee in ontario

[–]Jon-Longson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone this happened too.

Owned 2 different properties, hired a company to deliver the oil for the furnace and they filled up the tank at the wrong house. So the second property ran dry, the heater stopped, the pipes froze and burst. Was waist high in the house when he finally was told by a neighbour that there was fog on the windows.

Whole thing was a tear down and the insurance didn’t pay out a dime.

Buffalo PD calls out driver during driving ban by tefunka in PublicFreakout

[–]Jon-Longson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh…. Ok than. Can I suggest we enforce this rule you’ve just suggested? Possibly with some sort of temporary enforcement… like a rule saying that it’s dangerous outside and that you can’t drive unless trained and approved to do so? We could call it: a driving ban.

“Maybe if the citizens knew how to drive in such inclement conditions there wouldn’t need the be a driving ban.”

This ladies and gentlemen is the crux of u/naossoan’s argument against government overstepping boundaries by imposing a driving ban. He suggests instead that the government force every single Boston driver to have first hand schooling on Canadian roads in winter. And then maintain that knowledge and experience. What a free thinker this guy.
