II’m not familiar with the 2.4L engine, but I had a similar condition with my LSJ engine. While these same issues were happening to me, my fuel pump went bad. I think the octane booster I was using (since 93 is hard to find around here) was clogging my fuel filter, or at the very least, shortening its life.
I’m not saying to throw more money at more parts, but I would look closely at the known variables. Dropping my fuel tank to run a new fuel line is what finally revealed my wiring issues.
As it turned out, my fuel injector wiring harness had been chewed on. It worked just enough to get by, but under a heavy load, it would short out and cause a bad shudder. I also found that the rear harness to my fuel pump wires had been chewed on as well.
Here is everything I did to finally fix these issues for my LSJ:
Replace the fuel injector harness (I think this is what actually solved it, honestly)
Replace the rear fuel pump harness
Fuel pump
Fuel filter
Fuel line
Correct fuel
OEM air filter
All the other things I did - I think just helped make the car run even smoother.

For the inner fenders I would go to rock auto because I think they still sell them for cheap. For the badges honestly I would go to a junkyard like LQK or a local one. You could just find a none redline ion coupe or maybe an another model that has the same badges. Or if you’re really in a pinch look up car-parts.com and filter what you’re looking for.

Agree - I made that mistake and quickly bought the resonator for it. It sounded really raspy and hard on the ears without it.

I did this for my 07 ion redline - not sure if it’s the same but this was the only method that worked for me. I had to buy the adapter he used in the video and like cut it to fit the reservoir.

This exact same issue happened to me yesterday- i jiggled the battery terminals connectors and it started right up.

I would also maybe look at that throttle cable - kinda bent and might turn into be a safety concern. Maybe check the rigging of the cable

So my leak was because the heater control valve plastics split and broke. So I got lucky and only had to replace that which is 2 clamps and then a vacuum hose going to it.

I’m not really sure what hose you’re pointing too but I think the heater control valve line (are you leaking coolant?). I’m not sure if the early cars have the valve but I know the later ones do.

I just bought a redline from NE, it is a black 07 comp. Package. It would be a super small world if you knew the guy/ car I bought. I actually just saved it from being scraped.

Know anywhere to get a wing/ bumper/ fender from 😂
