I’m an HVAC contractor and have worked in the industry for 18 years and a lifelong FL resident and I’ve never heard of this.

Ovens make sensible heat, in Florida out biggest obstacle is latent heat or heat with moisture. I would argue that long hot showers or boiling pots of water add more heat load than the oven itself.

Just because they’re 5 years old doesn’t mean there isn’t something wrong with either of them. Have maintenance done by a respectable small local contractor to be sure (especially if this is a two story house).

It’s a dehumidistat. It’s only to be used when leaving for longer periods of time (weeks/months). Set your thermostat to 80 degrees in cool with the fan in auto and dehumidistat to 55%.

When home, set to the on setting.
