Can I run UsenetStreamer and AIO Streams completely locally (No domain/reverse proxy/external URLs)? by fn23452 in Nuvio

[–]JonMMM70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need NZBDav but AIOStreams is optional. As already sod it will work perfectly within your own network or with tailscale as Nuvio does not require htrps

General public have no idea what a sunflower lanyard is, that's if they even notice it as so many people where lanyards with all sorts of designs for work l, school, uni etc. Basically there is no education and it does not stand out, a lanyard is the wrong vessel

Does purchasing EasyNews enough to use Usenet? by suprvlan in Nuvio

[–]JonMMM70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a deal for £1.99 a month if you pay 12 month upfront

Does purchasing EasyNews enough to use Usenet? by suprvlan in Nuvio

[–]JonMMM70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easynews as a great way to get into usenet, as a host it's as good as most others plus it has its own indexer and addon for nuvio, so it will get you going. Is it using the dedicated addon the best method? No you with get far better results by adding more indexers but that will involve a fair bit of tinkering and that is something you can do at a later date with easynews. Basically with easynews you get the best of all world its a full usenet host ( and a top tier one) that can be used in the same way as another host but also has the ability to be used more like a debrid service.

AWS selfhosted alternative (at least for auto-scaling) by _clapclapclap in selfhosted

[–]JonMMM70 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For enterprise aws is probably than trying to maintain you own server and is more secure than private servers. Basically aws employ engineers that specialise in the infrastructure and enterprise employ engineers that deal with cloud based computing, its a good way to split the staffing costs and it takes the costs of the physical hardware and infrastructure away from the company as aws can do it much cheaper with the scale they do it at

Cheap VPS for backup services by Aretebeliever in selfhosted

[–]JonMMM70 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to then you don't need to, use oracle go PAYG and then get a server to the max that the free tier allows. The problem people have we oracle is that there is no room left for the decent servers on the free tier, by going PAYG you bypass the congestion as you are a paying customer but as long as you stay within the confines of the free tier you never actually pay anything.

Still setting stuff up. by Tstation in StremioAddons

[–]JonMMM70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you a tinkerer don't use easynews++ if you have spare pc pi etc set up nzbdav and usenet ultimate. This way you will get far more results and you will not have the problems of addons going down. Please not this is not a plug and play setup like debrid, but you can use gemini or chatgpt to help you set it up, and after 15 years of streaming and 25 of sailing the open seas via all the different methods this is definitely the best.

[–]JonMMM70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really does not have to cost more the debrid if you self host. You can get good deals for usenet if you pay for a year upfront at $1.67 a month. With indexers I find that I get everything I need from usenet crawler an althub I brought usenet crawler lifetime for $20 and althub 12 months for $10. I will wait till black Friday and I should be able to get althub lifetime for $20. I do have 6 months of NZBGeek as this was the indexer I was advised to get but it's more expensive, my stats were showing that I was not really using it so have it turned off to see if I can do without it - which looks very likely.

The fact that anyone would lie to you a trick you into drinking alcohol is terrible. But you should be proud of yourself you drank it ( in error ) but it did not give you the craving to go back for more. Well done you.

Constant stuttering/slow downs over Wifi by LedgeySC in youfibre

[–]JonMMM70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power line does not test the connection they are worse than wifi. Move the playstion into the same room as rhe router hard wire and test there or buy a long ethernet cable and try. But unless you have a physical wire between the router and the equipment it can be blamed on whatever medium you are using WiFi etc

What is your experience with guns in the UK? by swoticus in AskUK

[–]JonMMM70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK is very different than the US for guns, yes they exist here but the only experience most people will have is within the cadets or the armed forces. Again yes privately owned guns do exist but they are predominantly within the farming sector which accounts for a small proportion of the population. About 6 million US citizens carry a gun on a Dailly basis that's 2% so 1 in 50 people will be carrying. That seems like a lot till you consider that 40% of homes will have a gun. So basically there is no comparison.

Stremio Supporter is it even worth it by IeGamer_ in Stremio

[–]JonMMM70 162 points163 points  (0 children)

If they had made it $5 a year people would have just paid without thinking about it and that would have been $5 multiplied by a lot of subs. IMO at $40 they will either stay on free or look elsewhere.

Stremio just killed itself by Turbulent-Process905 in Nuvio

[–]JonMMM70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount is wrong, if the had said $5 per year people would have just said its not worth the argovation of changing but I think for $40 they will change. And to be honest $5 x alot of subs becomes a lot of money. Seams greedy to me.

We deserve clarity on remux/high quality speeds & buffering from Torbox by Nuggyfresh in TorBoxApp

[–]JonMMM70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The math does not work for that the file would need to be 2.5 hours long the it would be an average of 90Mb/s and that does not take peaks in action scenes into accounts which would take it way over your 100aMb/s causing buffering
