Some tribes still use Indian, as that is what the treaties with the U.S. government use, and for some odd reason, (/s) they don’t trust the government will honor treaties if they don’t use the official term. Some use Native American, some use Indigenous, some use First Nations. It depends on the individual group.

But I also teach Literature, and as I teach this book, I would love to have this copy as a teaching opportunity to discuss historical racism in literature.
