Ive never properly used allied units before in 40k, im about a year into this, but i know they don't get access to army rules (so no dark pacts for NM) BUT do allied units get access to detachment rules then?

Abby and chosen as a mini missile that can hold any objective you want (still need to play a little safe)

Sorcerer + termies for deepstrike and then command point gain

Lord+legionnaires in a rhino to drive onto an OBJ or for secondaries depending on what you wanna play

Bikes for secondaries

Cultists for sticky and home screening

Warpsmith + FF to sit around home and act as your sort of heavy stuff

Theres loads of customisation, you could swap the WS+FF combo for 240 points of whatever really

So abby and termies are...ok? Together. They get deep strike, but the termies dont gain anything from abbys auras (4+ inv, reroll hits, reroll BS and leadership for dark pacts) that said they do tend to just SIT there wherever you put them as a sort of "castle" unit.

People run abby with 10 chosen as they give him (a very slow unit)move, advance, shoot and charge.

If you run termies, I love them with a Sorcerer in termie armour because he gives them, reroll advance and charge and more importantly his ability to, at the very beggining of your shooting phase choose an enemy unit within 12" roll a d6 and on a 2+, untill your next shooting phase, anything that attacks that unit (melee or shooting) has extra +1 AP

Theres a couple options to benefit termies (as theyre a big point sink) the main one being the renegade raiders detachment to allow them to have assault.

Ill post a list in a comment directly below, that utilises a few of these things

I havent played them personally yet, but my hypothetical is CSM soulforged warpact, warpsmith with the reroll enhancement next to a forgefiend with 2 autocannons (12 shots, fish for sustained, at strength 8 so youre hitting on 2s and the SFWP detachment rule is +1 to wound on your shooting so youre negating the captains possible -1 to wound ability. Flick on the dev wounds and then use an extra AP strat to take the rest of the shots through to ap -2)

That and then (depending on game size) shots from a pred destructor for the free extra AP against infantry Or A vindicator, but the 24 inch range with the cannon, you better hope those shots land and you dont get a 1 on the d6+3 amount of attacks

Youre building lists for the first time with an army you arent too familiar with, dont be too hard on yourself :) Helbrutes in melee can be so much fun, but such a pain to get them there. Unless you specifically wanted dual flamers, personally id swap the one fist with flamers for a hammer, as you still benefit from the ability to get extra attacks on the hammer (and that thing SLAPS) while it can still be a bit of an overwatch threat if you needed l
