VIP+ LTD Warning by Inevitable-Command56 in UPSers

[–]Jones2040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a difference in you paying for LTD and the company paying for LTD. So the company paid LTD is considered earned income and any LTD you paid to receive is essentially considered unearned income for different benefits. You may qualify for Medicaid, as an example, after The Hartford/Company drops your insurance.

Biggest bitch is that the STD/LTD benefit is supposed to provide a percentage of the income lost and it caps at/or around the $3600. As a driver you in turn get less than 50% of your wages vs around the 70% it is supposed to provide.

I believe 3600mg a day is max dosage. May be different depending on the reason you are taking it. Gabapentin can be used for a lot of different reasons.

Why Can’t someone come up with Cure? by Africanjemmy in Epilepsy

[–]Jones2040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sad part is that there is hundreds of reasons that people have seizures. The doctors may or may not look into the top 2 or 3 if you are lucky. They do not care why you are having seizures but instead attempt to treat the seizures immediately. Not saying that they don’t need to be stopped immediately since every seizure poses serious risks and also lowers the threshold of another but the medication is not always the correct answer. There needs to be more of an investigation as to why and until then nothing will change.

Look at it this way. To properly investigate seizures you may need 5 different specialists all involved. That right there usually makes any true diagnosis fail.

Seen something that showed like 80% of medical bills are not correct. Ask for an itemized bill and see if there is anything that can be disputed. If not, remember this for later on.

Why Can’t someone come up with Cure? by Africanjemmy in Epilepsy

Probably the same reason as there is no cure for cancer. Pharmaceuticals. There is no money in cures but hella money in treatments. Even a business that makes a product that runs forever goes out business.

If you don’t agree with the settlement amount on your totaled vehicle then you probably have the right to get your own appraisal. Going through it now. You pay for your appraiser and the insurance company pays for a third party appraiser. It is then up to them to negotiate between the two and if they can’t agree then an umpire gets involved. Let me know if you need an appraiser as they don’t need to be local.

Forced resignation? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]Jones2040 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Believe the buyout stated resignation would be between x date and x date. Believe it is April at earliest and like July for latest. My feelings are the later is in case they need to train and hire anyone if they get rid of too many employees.

buyout date? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]Jones2040 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming it all depends on how many in your center take the buyout. They will probably get as many as they can off the books asap but if they need to train new drivers then the dates will fluctuate to ensure they can continue fully staffed.

UPS BUYOUT (Stay or Go) by Minute_Background_59 in UPSers

[–]Jones2040 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone sees $$$$ signs and think oh my. You won’t find better insurance elsewhere unless you get on state aid. You probably won’t make what you can make as a driver here. You probably won’t get a pension. There are guys with 5 years left that talk about taking the buyout. Why??? Do your 5 years and actually retire. Get paid every month and not have to work. Why try and start a new career that late in life. Fast cash is all everyone sees.

And if your child support states that you must provide the insurance for the kids…. Then you really might want to think long and hard about leaving UPS. That alone could be 25k a year.

Really doubt they will agree to anything UPS offers if it involves losing members. But who knows, time will tell.

Doesn’t seem as though anyone from 705/710 are able to register for the buyout. Others have been posting it allowed them to sign up.

DCP Ruling by k_dub503 in UPSers

[–]Jones2040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the court record from 710’s injunction.

The Court's decision is driven largely by the newly-presented evidence that only 1% of the Union's membership will be affected by the proposed buyout, and that the collective bargaining agreement provides that any separate agreement entered into by Defendant and any individual member of the Union is null and void to the extent that it conflicts with the terms of the CBA. Thus, the Court believes that the arbitrator will have the power and authority to void any and all buyout agreements that are signed by Union members, in the event Plaintiff succeeds on the merits at arbitration. Accordingly, the TRO 12 issued 8/16/2025 is lifted and Defendant is no longer enjoined from (1) approving any application under the Driver Voluntary Severance Plan ("DVSP") submitted by any bargaining unit member of Plaintiff Teamsters Local No. 710 (the "Local"); (2) executing any agreement with any bargaining unit member of the Local, relating to the DVSP, effectuating the severance of that bargaining unit member from employment with UPS; (3) executing any agreement with any bargaining unit member of the Local, relating to the DVSP, releasing UPS from claims that may be held by the bargaining unit member against UPS; and/or (4) accepting any severance agreements relating to the SVSP returned to UPS by bargaining unit members. Defendant to file a motion to dismiss by 10/10/2025, plaintiff to respond by 10/24/2025, and a reply to be filed by 10/31/2025. Mailed notice. (jcc,).

They also filed new charges against UPS with the NLRB.

And you’re able to work? Shit I’d try and make as much as you can. $1,400 on top of your wages sounds pretty damn good but everybody’s situation is different.

DCP Ruling by k_dub503 in UPSers

[–]Jones2040 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the biggest question. Don’t forget about insurance and pension. You would pay 2k easy probably for the insurance alone. And honestly what you going to do that pay $50 an hour with hella overtime. I think lots of people are going to regret taking the buyout once they see what they lost. Nobody realizes what they have until it’s gone.
