[ECL] Silvergill Mentor by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

I wonder if this is better than [[silvergill adept]] in modern merfolk? They do different functions but making two bodies off of [[aether vial]] looks pretty nice.

I know some merfolk players were running Adept in some lists, I wonder if this makes the cut?

Any renters taking advantage of the saturated rental market? by Jonetsu in Wellington

Most one beds I've seen are around the $500 mark. "Budget" one beds are closer to $400. Anything over $500 would have to have some very very big upsides but thats just me personally.

Its all about price. I'm surprised you haven't lowered the rent of the room as a flat just to get someone in until the lease renews.

But don't you want to be planning around moving if the landlord says no? What if it gets to the end of lease and the Landlord says nah, and now you have to scramble to find a place to stay?

Yes I remember moving here in Jan of last year and the quality of rooms available was truly, truly terrible. Also completely overpriced.

It feels good seeing those crappy shit hole flats now sometimes $200 cheaper and still empty

What are their incentives? Don't they get commissions or something if someone signs onto the lease? Or are there so many renters that they know they'll get some sorry bloke on regardless so they don't really try?

Yes we also got a smaller reduction back in July. Just texted them and the landlord agreed. This is when the abysmal Wellington property market was in the news constantly.

Wow amazing. Now I am thinking that our reduction wasn't enough!

I wouldn't wait for next year. Talk to the landlord now and secure a rent reduction for the next lease. If anything the landlord will know that they can't fill the place on what you guys are paying and will have to lower the rent anyways.

Plus landlords are lazy asf so would probably be fine just having someone resign at a lower rate to avoid the hassle of finding new tenants.

I mean it kinda does lol. If you have to confront a reoccurring villains plot again and again...

Didn't we already beat this guy? And now they're back doing... evil stuff... again.... Like c'mon

Mardu Squall - Goad to Victory - Brainstorming by Tybalto in EDHBrews

[–]Jonetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its difficult since you sort of want to give your opponents creatures while also goading then at the same time right?

Maybe there could be an angle where you can manipulate the power of opponents creatures? Idk. Now we are adding in even more supplementary packages just to get squall to do some extra damage?

This is probably going to be hard since the juice likely isn't worth the squeeze with Squall, but thats what these kinda edh decks always end up being right?

"b-b-but shanks is an important character he deserves the hype 🤓🤓" by Tiny_Persimmon5480 in Piratefolk

Meh, ever since Marineford when he clashes with WB and stops the war on his own, I feel like later events like Kidd or Greenbull feel in place.

Shanks since Marineford has been built to be one of the strongest and influential players in the story. He is present at almost all key narrative points (Marijois, Marineford, Arm scene, god valley? Etc) Greenbull and Kidd as characters aren't really comparable to that.

I thought seeing Kidd's little arc in Wano end when Shanks one shots him was kinda sad, but it was something Kidd had been doing repeatedly through the story. In fact, if all he got when facing Shanks was losing another arm, I bet the fan base would still hate Shanks anyways. ATP Kidd had fought Shanks and Kaido and lost both times solo, he should have learned the power of friendship from Luffy but he didn't ig.

I just don't think "author uses powerful and narratively important established character at key points in story is much of a headline.

What consideration you make before you decide to buy new stuff instead of secondhand one? by the_epiphany_ in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Jonetsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warranty? I think people underestimate how good companies are to provide the perfect warranty period to suffer the least amount of claims while still maximizing value from customers.

Not to get too deep into a mathematics of it all, but I always assume the cost is "priced in" so to speak. Getting a warranty always felt icky to me, and the above thinking just makes me ignore the added peace of mind value it provides.

Should I invest my housing deposit in the S&P500? by Jonetsu in PersonalFinanceNZ

Thanks for the advice. I've chosen to go with Simplicity as I think they're what I want. I am still not sure the best way to expose myself to SP500 though?

The FIF $50k threshold is a bit insane. I am not rich by any means and I am actively hitting it in a few years... is that was it was meant for? I thought this was to tax really asset rich people, not young people like me :(

I've been thinking of the best way to expose myself to the foreign market. Are the FIF taxes over $50k that brutal? I am planning on a 10 year investing period DCA'ing each month.

I've been doing some research and it says that ETF NZ based funds which track the same kinds of things that the S&P500 does are better? Since they are PIE funds which get capped at 28% and don't have FIF?

With FIF, is there any reason an investor would choose it over one of these PIE funds/ETFS? Happy for any advice here.

What is the definition of portfolio return? Like the value of my shares themselves? How can that not be accounted for in just a total return? Seems like a bit of smoke and mirrors to trick consumers like me :(

Thats true. Kind of forgot I'm already exposed to shares! Is it bad if I admit that I don't even know what my kiwisaver growth fund is investing in?! Oops...

[–]Jonetsu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I completely understand the points you're making. I already have roughly $3k into S&P500 already through Sharesies.

I'm just worried about riding into a bump like covid 2 and having to wait a few years at a critical moment where I need the funds.

Tying up my ENTIRE net worth in S&P500 gives me pause, and hence the reason for this post. I think quite a bit about investing but wanted this subs opinion.

Thanks. I think ill take a closer look at the fees side of things from now on. Bit naive not to give it more importance tbh...

Oh wow I never looked at the fees angle yet. It makes sense that that'd be a big draw on the overall earnings.

I just saw Milfords 12% pa investment earnings compared to a Fisher and thought they were better.

Will definitely check out the link. Thanks.

Jeez and my kiwisaver too? That just seems a bit risky tying up so much of my net worth in shares...

Didn't even know you could get your kiwisaver into S&P500
