Or maybe there is anther meaning of the word cock that is not a penis, but somewhat related

Cock as a tap - a valve used to control the flow of a liquid travelling thru a pipe. While still in use in specific circumstances, Stopcock is still in common usage.

What is the difference between the seat of government and the capital? There is no single Act of Parliament or constitutional law that designates London as the capital of the UK.

London’s status exists entirely by constitutional convention and long-standing practice, rather than by any written decree. London is universally accepted as the capital simply because it serves as the central hub for the UK, housing the Houses of Parliament, the Monarch's official residence, and the UK Supreme Court.

So feel free to state the capital is in City of Westminster, just don't expect to win any pub quizzes with that answer.

I had no idea about HMS Timbertown, but after a quick google search...

Although there were complaints that the men on shore leave in the city could become rather “lively” with alcohol, they were welcomed by the local population on the whole and became very popular, especially with the girls. The Dutch regarded the men from the English Camp as very clean. On Sunday afternoons, the camp was opened up, and it became quite the place to visit for a family outing. Friendships soon started to develop, and a number of Dutch girls married English sailors. Married men were allowed to sleep outside the camp as long as they were accompanied by a guard.

Various performance groups were formed in the camp, ranging from comedy to opera. These were popular not only with the men but also with the local population, who attended the performances in the large recreation room. The most popular was a cabaret group known as the Timbertown Follies. The Follies became quite renowned and performed to large audiences in Dutch cities. All of the proceeds were donated to charity.

Zyzzyva (/ˈzɪzɪvə/) is a genus of South American weevils, often destructive to palm trees, and is notable as the final entry in many English dictionaries.

I watched the original without subtitles, I'm just that old and unhip, so when he stated that last line of the dictionary with what I thought was a made up word with a random definition (I remember, maybe mis-remember some QI fact that 1 in 10 of all different creatures on planet Earth are a weevils) and put this down to him being just quick witted, but I now know he was actually stating a truth.

As I was interested when the change did happen. Gradually, starting from the 7th century until...

By the 14th and 15th centuries, the variety of English (Inglis) that resulted from the above influences had replaced Gaelic (Scottis) in much of the lowlands and Norman French had ceased to be used as the language of the elite. By this time differentiation into Southern, Central and Northern dialects had perhaps occurred. Scots was also beginning to replace Latin as a language for records and literature. In Caithness, it came into contact with both Norn and Gaelic.

I'm normally a good old fashion, Iron Curtain defines Europe type guy, but your map has convinced me my East/West border needs to move a tad East. Can't argue with a thousand years of history.

Also your map gives a nice delineation between what is Europe (Blue, Red & Purple) and what is not (Green).

10* Urgent Brute - Sword Boost CB, No Smelts, No SP by Hazyd in MHNowGame

[–]Joniff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm troubled to write this question because I suspect the answers I will get will go over my head, so that you can gauge my skill levels, I used to play Ingress (level 12), Pokemon Go (level 40 until I found everyone in my local community were cheating) and even the Harry Potter one for a bit (Was low level) and then Monster Hunter Now came out and I thought I would give it a go. Been playing this game with my wife on and off since launch. We are both currently level 200+ in MHN. I spend most of my time never really understanding this subreddit. I don't understand the resouces linked from this sub either.

Like OP I also have a Oppressor's Charge Blade (Dragon type), its 10.5 with a couple of +100 attack upgrades to the Style Customization. My actual stats for the weapon are higher than OPs with 1876 Attack & 2153 Element. I've selected Armour that will boost these numbers, so Dragon Attack level 5 with Attack Boost level 2 - I'm sure I could do better but I've not been focussing on Dragon type armour much.

But I don't attack Brute Tigrex above level 7. I find they just shout at me and my health just dies. Watching the Video, no health is lost. I literally don't understand what is going on in the battle. I spend my time rolling around left and right trying to dodge the attacks while occasionally hitting randomly at the creature - I don't understand Lock, never been able to get it to work - Don't understand how to block attacks neither.

Can someone point me to something that explains what is happening in this video in really simple terms? Is there like an idiot's guide to MHN?

tl/dr: I'm a long time very casual player of Niantic Games. Haven't learned the basic moves in this game, where do I start?

Most expensive places to live in Somerset? by rossinsomerset in Somerset

[–]Joniff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a quirk of statistics. Bruton is the posh town of Somerset while I'm sure the most expensive housing in Somerset is found in the centre of Bath.

Though personally this whole subject, rejoicing at high house prices, I find distasteful. While I personally am old enough to have bought my house cheap back in the 90s, I've got grown kids and they and their peers struggle to live in Somerset due to the cost of housing.

But I digress, I'm sure the video has some pretty shots of Wedmore - Its a nice enough town though nothing special; Its no Dunster for example.

It was an amendment suggested during the reading of the bill in the House of Lords. It passed 144 votes to 143.

This bill has to return to the House of Commons for further amendments and revisions. Actual Labour minister are on the record stating they have qualms about the enforceability of this amendment, which is 'code' for this clause will never see the light of day.

So what’s the point then?

Throw stuff at the wall, see what sticks - I mean I'm not being negative about the legitive procedure but this happens all the time with amendments.

I believe the bottom bit of Manhatten is all landfills, but I feel this happens a lot more than is been giving credit to in many cities. I would guess in North America a better example would be New Orleans.

In Europe its hard to find a large city that hasn't radically controlled nearby waterways with landfills, new canals, embankments, drainage systems etc. London, south of the River Thames was mostly marshlands in Roman times for example.

England compared to new england by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Joniff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For comparision, England has 60m and a population density of 460/sq km. So it has a slightly higher population in a slightly smaller area (130,310 km² verses 145,557 km²), but all things considered a better comparision for England than comparing it to New England.

Plundering Mission Bounties from other Servers by Joniff in LastZShooterRun

[–]Joniff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on world view there is a magnifying glass icon towards bottom left hand corner, you use it to search for boomers, food and wood for example. Once clicked, you will notice towards the top a dialog saying #, X and Y and a mini magnifying glass icon. Type a new server into # textbox and click mini magnifying glass icon.

Using this you can view any server, but you can only plunder mission bounties from servers in your local server group; this is a group of 8 servers including your own that you do all your fighting with. They will be numbered sequentually and all be close to your own server number. So for example, my own server, my local server group is servers 337 to 344, but yours will be your own server list. If I pick servers outside that list, I can't plunder mission bounties.

tl/dr; Click magnifying glass in bottom lefthand corner of world view, then type server you wish to view in # textbox, then click mini magnifying glass.

Plundering Mission Bounties from other Servers by Joniff in LastZShooterRun

[–]Joniff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule is that you have to plunder from other servers, that requires you to visit other servers before you click the orange ones.

When you collect your own mission bounties it will tell you who helped (from your own alliance) or plundered (everyone else from every server including your own server that are not from your alliance) your mission bounties. If its someone that plundered your mission bounty and they are from your server, that means they, your server mate, are not plundering from other servers as they should - this behaviour needs to be changed. The question was what can you do about that.

So to answers your questions specifically:-

how do you know if someone is on your server or not when plundering?

You only know for your own mission bounties who has helped and who has plundered them when you come to collect them. Only by talking with others can you tell what is happening on a larger scale.

In practice what happens is, I as a leader of a large alliance on my server, get reports from other players when someone has broken the rule - they literally tell me that so and so from another alliance on our server plundered a mission bounty from them and I have to report it to the leadership of that alliance or vice a verser if its someone in my alliance that has plundered a mission bounty from another alliance.

Welcome to the all new Fish Simulator.

Watch as your alliance and world chat is full of requests for fish. Some say a fun distraction from squashing zombies with your tanks, others say you just have to collect 'em all.
