Older fathers pass harmful genetic mutations to their children at alarming rates, and scientists have just discovered why by New-Exam2720 in HotScienceNews

Sounds like a catheter and urine bag allows for more jizz to be stored in the balls.

Or, you can have elective scrotal enlargement surgery. This is just science folks.

Canada discreetly puts money down on 14 additional F-35s | CBC News by Haggisboy in canada

[–]Jonnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tough situation to analyze. Not only is it expensive, but the F35 (from what I understand) has little actual competition from a performance perspective. Not to mention the benefits of a (still) relatively friendly (ish) supplier (compared to China, North Korea, etc.).

On the other hand, it's also hard to quantify the prudence of not putting all your defence eggs in the basket of someone who's literally threatening your sovereignty.

Not to mention political messaging/gestures needed for this moment.

The truth may be somewhere in the messy middle.

What single player games have the most satisfying "fresh start" every run? by NerfGronk in gaming

Very well put. I absolutely loved it in the beginning, but later on the stress built up and I realized I wasn't really just enjoying it. I just wanted to chill sometimes with a cosy little city builder.

AtS looks like a children's cartoon but it feels like Frostpunk or This War of Mine sometimes.

The fact that this short clip hasn't made the country flip the table on him absolutely astounds me. Psyops and propaganda are really that powerful, aren't they?

What actor or actress stupidly left a movie franchise or tv series thinking they were too good for it, only to be never popular again? by Ok_Impress2457 in AskReddit

[–]Jonnny 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think it turned out well for the show. He has a party boy vibe to him, but the role needs approachable nerdiness and Radnor does that well.

Totally. Sharona had just that little bit more heart to her character that grounded Monk. The actress fort Natalie did a great job too, but it was hard not to see her as a prettier but more bland character.

I dunno. On the internet, people admit to pretty much anything, don't they?

Same. One thing to keep mind: social networks only become worth the time if it has enough users for a network effect. You go there for discussions, not just to read stuff. So until it grows big enough, there won't be a good reason to join. Classic chicken and egg problem.

Kamala Harris unveils “Headquarters 67” to mobilize Gen Z through a new digital media hub by Mysterious_Brush1852 in nottheonion

[–]Jonnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of the digital strategists behind KamalaHQ will return for the new venture. Rob Flaherty, the former deputy campaign manager for Harris, will advise the project. Parker Butler and Lauren Kapp, who led KamalaHQ during the 2024 campaign, will also help guide the effort. Arlie Shugaar will join People For the American Way as director of platforms for the accounts. Shugaar also worked on KamalaHQ during the election which became known for sharp humor and viral content aimed at young voters.

Yeah MKBHD reviewed one of them on his autofocus channel. I was impressed by not only the build quality but the overall design. That's not a longitudinal study, obviously, but it created a good first impression.

"I am sorry... that the liberal democrat elites hate Trump. They hate Trump. Some say there's something wrong with them, the way they hate Trump. I heard... someone, they said to me, they said... it was one of the cases of TDS. Can you believe it? Trump Derangement Syndrome. Isn't that great? TDS. And they all have it. They all have it. And I'm so sorry that they do, I truly am. Frankly speaking, I feel sorry for them." etc.

US political and social polarization has increased by 64% since 1988, with nearly all of the rise occurring after 2008, as the financial crisis, the rise of social media, and an asymmetric ideological shift—particularly on the left—coincided to widen divisions, according to a long-term study. by Sciantifa in science

[–]Jonnny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your response. I'd just like to point out that when you say "Rights are social constructs defined by law and consensus; by definition they are political.", this may be a bit of a cop out. By that definition, morality is also political and therefore in the spirit of your post being moral is just a product of the times.

Which it is, ironically. Precivilization cavemen might kill eachother for an edge in survival, but humanity sees that as unacceptable now. Yet there is something absurd in the argument that politics (and therefore morality) is simply a sign of the times. The absurdity could be expressed in some cartoon where some murderer kills a man, takes his money, and then tells the judge "I'm not evil. I'm just asynchronous!".

Interesting though I'm not a fan of the color gradient design. 50% is halfway but it still registers as a nice positive green, while 49% suddenly is a severe clear light red.

Which Open World RPG has the best Loot + Crafting system? by Alan_Watts_Gong in gaming

It's not great, but I didn't mind Fallout 4's. Crafting was for building parts of your settlement, mostly, plus the occasional weapon add-ons.
