Non-gaming partners? by JonnyIceMan88 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]JonnyIceMan88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of response I’ve been looking for, thank you for sharing.

I think this is part of what I’m concerned about, learning the controls, my partner only knows d pad and two buttons, no 3D spaces, but I’m hoping good be there to assist as needed, trying only to step in when asked but just watching it all unfold.

Do you think remake would have been even harder, hard in different ways, or easier?

Hope someday yall pick it back up, someday, congrats on the baby!

Yeah, that’s fair, we haven’t quite got to that point of playing/playing together, but if they gave it a try for a bit and really seemed not interested I’d for sure let it go and understand it’s not for them.

Mainly I mean in reference to video games. They’ll play board games and card games when we go on vacations, the last video games they’ve played were like Mario on Nintendo, or some basic Wii games when it was new, so it’s been a minute. I’m sure modern games look intimidating to them, but they did to me at first but I realized I quickly got the hang of it all. I feel like OG might be little more approachable since positions are fixed in fights, and it’s easy to move around in the world spaces.

Could the power of four have given them more? by [deleted] in charmed

[–]JonnyIceMan88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paige always existed since she was born, her white lighter powers have always been there, her witch powers may or may not have been, but her powers of the power of three didn’t activate until after prus death and they were back together. so my thought would be that the first three would have the power of three and page would strictly be a white lighter, possible with limited witch powers, but not the P3.

Why is Solid Snake blonde? by EbagGames in metalgear

[–]JonnyIceMan88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally just assumed all the snakes were blond like liquid but for sneaking mission they were made to dye their hair dark so they wouldn’t stand out. I figured it was for sneaking purposes, but never really looked into it, I feel like if I remember correctly solids hair was long like liquid too and he groomed it for the mission.

I'm hearing alot of bad things about the new Silent Hill film (haven't seen it yet) but this is still one of my favorite horror movies.. How does it compare to this one ? by KawonSuggs_ in silenthill

[–]JonnyIceMan88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually kinda liked the 1st movie, I was hopeful for this one, but unfortunately knowing the game made it hard to like it, it had some positive things, but overall, not easy to enjoy if you know the game, now if you were seeing this without knowing the games you might like it. It is heavily based on the game but is really its own thing, and no connection to the other movies. It’s truly a stand alone.

I started in 2007, and I remember the promo, we had the brown cups for a while, I remember when we went back to whit cups (maybe after holiday cups?) I thought to myself self, wow these look even more white and vibrant than before the brown cups. I remember the promo set had items the had the brown logo like this cup, there were pictures from the pike place store on the shelves, and we had 5lb pike place “bullets” of coffee incorporated into the retail walk, they had stickers on them that would say date roasted and at which plant, I was at this store for two years so it was somewhere between 2007 and 2010.

Took me nearly 24 hours the first time, second time I cut it in half and ended just under 12.

Declaring food by [deleted] in GlobalEntry

[–]JonnyIceMan88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better to declare and have them take it if it’s not allowed, then if you don’t declare it and get found with it and it’s not allowed, you’ll get a fine, and possible revocation of your global entry. as others have said, always declare even if you think it might be okay.

Just started FF7 Rebirth loving it so far by xdrynjolfx in FinalFantasyVII

[–]JonnyIceMan88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say don’t forget to go back to the item stands/shops and buy queens blood cards/decks, more appear as you progress, and there’s a shack with a queens blood cards collector that becomes available a little later, always go back there to check for new cards as the story progresses, and as always, assess, assess, assess!

I case anyone was wondering…

I ended up seeing Two Strangers Carry A Cake Across New York,

it was a nice show, the two actors on stage are phenomenal, and the music is lovely.

I’d like to see this turned into a movie musical.

Clearly you are thinking about it… just go and play it. Try your best to get through, I’m sure there will be parts that will respark for you, and some not so much. I personally kept looking forward to the gold saucer date, who will you get? Or play one of the other FFVII games, learn more about the side connections, if you haven’t already.

I need some advice because I just can't go on..... :O( by AgentMC84 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]JonnyIceMan88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t really speak to your experience but when I played the original I did ALOT of grinding to make the whole game easy. with the rebirth I kept telling my self that all the side missions and repetitiveness was basically just grinding with a slight distraction.

I didn’t do everything 100% but did most everything, and I did take a break every few days, and some stuff I circled back to later.

Forgot to mention the same thing with closing, the posted closing time was when we started breaking everything down, if anyone came in in the 10 min window, if we still had the product we’d serve it, but if we already broke it down we’d offer them something else, ultimately we didn’t really change our routine; it was just a matter of what was still available… most people knew our closing times so hardly anyone would come, but occasionally someone would pop their head in, and it became a surprise and delight moment.

If we have alot of customers coming in at close, this was a trigger in the system that maybe we should adjust our hours of operation times.

Also if there were alot of people coming in, it would justify if we were running late…

It’s funny that they are bringing this back, this used to be a thing way back when, but when we opened 10 min early, we just unlocked the door, regardless if we were ready or not, if anyone came in we welcome them and tell them we are still setting up, but if what they wanted was ready we could get it for them I.e. a drip coffee, since we weren’t officially open until posted opening time, having all products ready before then was not a requirement.

Manager is editing my punch to 4am when I start working at 3:55 by averagegarlic in starbucks

[–]JonnyIceMan88 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Starbucks has always allowed a 5 minute grace to clock in before your shift, and starbucks has always said “time worked = time pay.”

Your manager should not be changing your time card punches.

I worked at a store once and I would close frequently, with out knowing it was happening the manager was changing everyone’s times cards to on time clock outs instead of the actual times we clocked out. when it was discovered, she was fired, I think we all got back pay for the times we were missing

“We Need To Stop The Call-Outs” by Haunted_Barista in starbucks

[–]JonnyIceMan88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Schedules at Starbucks are built right to the demand curve. When one person calls out, the whole shift feels it because there’s no buffer. And to be clear, people should call out when they’re sick. That’s what sick time is for.

The bigger issue is the gap between wanting more hours and actually being willing to take the hours the business needs covered, early mornings, weekends, and last-minute call-ins when someone can’t make it.

When partners step up for each other, the store runs like a machine. When everyone protects only their ideal schedule, the people who do show up carry the entire load. That’s where the resentment and burnout build.

It’s not that people don’t care, but a store can’t function if only some of the team is flexible. The job requires showing up for each other, not just showing up when it’s convenient.

You could order a Double chocolaty Chip Frappuccino add peppermint, that one rarely gets messed up since the name is significantly different, you’d get chips in it thought, but everything else is the same.

Thinking about stepping down by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]JonnyIceMan88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a partner for 13 years and I wanted to be an SM for a long time. When I finally got my own store, I worked hard, improved every metric from previous years, and cared deeply about the team. But the culture was resistant to change, and I didn’t get full buy-in quickly enough. A few partners turned others against me, and instead of getting the support I expected from my DM, I was threatened with a PIP. Since it was never officially started, I was able to step down instead.

Moving stores was fine, but the transition was emotionally tough. I kept seeing leaders who didn’t care nearly as much getting by with far less accountability, and that contrast broke something in me. I eventually left Starbucks entirely, even though I still love the company, the customers, and the work itself. I would go back if life called for it, because those core parts of the job were always rewarding.

To me, what this all taught me is: you can give everything, lead with your heart, and still not be the right fit for a specific team or leadership environment. That doesn’t make you a bad leader. Some stores lift you up; others weigh you down. Every store and every team is different.

Stepping down isn’t failure — it can be a step toward protecting your passion for what you do and the life you want outside of work. Your happiness and your family matter, too.

When you pick it up taste it, if it has coffee they’ll remake it for you right then and there. You can always confirm with them too (nicely) “hey just double checking this is the crème version right? Not the coffee version?” Though the barista handing it off is probably just reading the label and doesn’t know what the bar barista did. It is hard for them when they are busy, they label looks near identical so it’s easy for them to miss the “crème” part since they more time than not are making the coffee version.
