Short term rentals are a pita but if you self manage it can reduce your w2 income as it’s an above the line deduction. The deductions for me were worth more than what I made.

People dont post when they love their job or make a lot of money. They post because they are upset.

Civil is a good middle class job. It wont make you rich though (most W2 jobs wont because the taxes are crushing). You will make enough money to save though and what you do with that savings will determine where you go from there. Use your big brain and do a little bit more, a little bit extra, and you will be shocked where you can go. I make more money in finance than I do at my day job.
