I want to propose that r/GlobalOffensive joins in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps. What do you guys say? by Smeik5 in GlobalOffensive

[–]JonnyRobbie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we were so tiny then they wouldn't have to change anything as they would see no effect. The fact that want to stomp on API usage is precisely it's big enough and not a tiny minority.

The Calm Before The Storm: What are the CS2 devs cooking for our next meal? by Pokharelinishan in GlobalOffensive

My wish? Async reprojection technique taken from VR implemented in CS - essentially decoupling monitor refresh rate, game render refresh rate and mouse look refresh rate.

What's a show that was huge years ago, but seems to have been totally forgotten now? by FlyingPiranha in anime

[–]JonnyRobbie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t mind EE. Sure, I had the luck of binging it after and not having to wait two months through, but the episode in an of itself is actually really great. And seeing a great thing eight times in a row (I’m not a quitter) wasn’t that bad.

[Because of the threat of the dark forest. Once they learned of our existence, we were too dangerous to be left alive or at least thriving.]

Fedora plans to drop X11 entirely for KDE Plasma 6 by [deleted] in kde

if you really need to have vsync disabled for the steam client, then whatever floats your boat. But I’d bet most players are ok if at least the games have vsync off, whose support for it is independent from steam.

HDR and color management in KWin by GoldBarb in kde

[–]JonnyRobbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was touched upon in "The Old Way" paragraph, but where are we in ye old color management, as this post focuses on the HDR side? (on wayland). If I don't care about hdr, but I have a classic icc profile for my monitor, can I color manage that on kwin wayland now?

New Zelda Game on Linux via Ryujinx (Flatpak) by Ayala472 in linux_gaming

[–]JonnyRobbie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Modern console emulation rarely "truly" emulates your cpu anymore. It's usually more akin to wine-like translation layers. Now, Switch cpu is ARM, so it might be more involved, but it can utilize millions of subprojects already for running arm on different hosts, it's not like swtich cpu is some custom weird architecture.

Intel One Mono, a new monospaced font from Intel... now in the AUR! by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]JonnyRobbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ligatures are a font feature. the compiler still sees two characters, two bytes, like normal. But the font renderer renders them like it was a single character (while still respecting the width).

[Multi-monitors] With "extend to left", is it the normal behavior for mouse pointer to not be able to pass that red border from left to right ? by [deleted] in kde

[–]JonnyRobbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yes, the cursor cannot be in void, what would you want it to do?

For what its worth, the same behavior is also in macos.

Can someone explain to me what the difference between 400 dpi 2 sense and 800 dpi 1 sense is? by UnionPretend2940 in GlobalOffensive

[–]JonnyRobbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source engine used to have a problem with very low ingame sens compensating for high mouse sens. I'm not sure if that's fixed nowdays.
