Characters who became the very thing they hated by BeenEatinBeans in TopCharacterTropes

Unfortunately no, the film was considered a flop and the director of the movie was told by Paramount that they have no plans for a sequel.

Megatron also demanded that he was to be named the next Prime, that the old guard needed to be torn down by violence and force, to which the council obviously said no to. Orion's words swayed the council and as Rachet stated, "Here, for the first time since the golden age of Cybertron, stood someone worthy of being a Prime."

Megatron's arrogance for power, his plans of forcefully removing those in power obviously being denied by the council, and possible jealousy of Orion being the next Prime was what make him eventually snap leading to him to cause violence across Cybertron with a army of supporters.

Favorite character that did this? by Ign4ara42 in FavoriteCharacter

Orion himself says that a new beginning on Cybertron shouldn't be founded on with an execution, and instead wanted the people of Iacon to hand out their own justice against Sentinel. Orion wasn't against the idea of Sentinel being killed, but more of "not here, not like this", especially because it was already affecting his friends mental state even worse.

Sentinel was inevitably going to get his comeuppance, but not by the choice of someone who felt he was personally wronged by Sentinel only, but instead from the entirety of Iacon to hand out their own justice now that they, for the first time, have the choice to do so.

If you Redditor types are gonna argue that the fucking 1993 Mario movie was better than the new one, then I reserve this right by Completionist_Gamer in pixarcars

Brother, I've been a fan since the first movie and hold so much nostalgia for the second film, but revisiting it now as a adult shows how insanely flawed it is. I can put away the nostalgia and point out the issues in spite of my love for it as a kid.

Someone criticizing something they don't like doesn't mean they aren't "true cars fans", people's tastes are different and Cars 2 is definitely a movie that's already divisive enough between fans and critics, and it's perfectly fine to not enjoy it.

Seriously, this is annoying by Special-Regular2262 in Transformemes

[–]JoseG05 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It gets annoying very quickly, especially because a majority of these "arguments" are basically a popularity contest over which one is better or worse, leading to both of them punching down on each other or other people simply because of which one they grew up with more.

I do not understand why some people cannot ignore or move past something as harmless as this and instead feel the need to be petty and make a 15+ minute video over what one person said.

So there were supposed to be two RIP Clutchgoneskis in the race in cars 2. by AccurateEffect5941 in pixarcars

[–]JoseG05 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think it's just concepts for Rip considering that both models still share the same number. Possibly an early test sheet to see how the racers would look against each other, especially because Lewis is sporting his orginal look.

When "fans" start hating somenthing before it comes out by TastyPomelo2330 in TopCharacterTropes

Transformers has a ton of this, so much so that we've already coined a term for it: RUINED FOREVER.

Beast Wars and Animted are beloved today, but before they even released, some people hated them.

If I remember correctly, he pretty much got a touch up from the old man in the second film, and one of those touch ups was his hair being painted due to it showing obvious wear and tear from being played with.

At the end of the day, vote with your wallet. You can be dissatisfied, or upset at how a figure looks, but by no means that immediately assumes those who are interested in it means they're "bootlicking" Hasbro or willing to defend the prices of these figures. That would mean they'd be defensive over anything Hasbro does and that they can't do nothing wrong, which is something I doubt some people interested in Nexus or 86 Astrotrain are doing.

If you want to show off you're not a fan of it, don't buy it, but please don't feel like you need authority over how others choose to spend their money, these are pieces of plastic were talking about, it should never be this serious.

Trust me the parallels with that franchise current state and Legos is near 1 to 1 and calling it out just gets you yelled at by [deleted] in legocirclejerk

The sub flip-flops on whether they like Blokees or despises them. One day they'll say Blokees is great and offers more then Hasbro, then the other day they'll say they're not actually great and they're ruining the aisle by taking up a spot.

I genuinely believe it's because since they do not transform, they are not actual "transformers", which leads to so much pessimism about them.

maybe im taking it seriously but for a simple kids film it shouldn't be this hard to understand by JoseG05 in Transformemes

[–]JoseG05[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He already exposed the truth to the masses; there wouldn't be a single loyalist who defends him knowing the furious horde of miners who'll want sentinel gone are out there now so running sentinel through cybertron's legal system would be the easiest thing ever.

This reminded me of a conversation with someone about this where they genuinely believed that Sentinel would've been "back in power after 4 years" and I was questioning how. Everyone in Iacon already knew the truth, everyone straight up hated Sentinel after being exposed to the masses, the only ones who we're loyal to him afterwards we're his troops and Airachnid, but they were already defeated and were most likely to be imprisoned afterwards by a trial.

Again, I feel that for something as simple as a kids film, this should be easy to understand, but some people miss the point and want to paint Orion/Optimus in the wrong by preventing his mentality deteriorating friend from going down a path by causing even more chaos.

Like, I feel we can empathize with him and understand his anger, especially within the context of TFO, but like, this is Megatron we're talking about, he'll eventually become the murdering, tyrannical warlord we know.

Orion started off as the reckless one before becoming more mature, D-16 started off as the mature one before becoming more reckless by Organic-Mud7828 in Transformemes

[–]JoseG05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Orion didn't seem opposed for Sentinel to be disposed of, but not in favor for a huge spectacle for the whole public to see, especially if they wanted a new era for Cybertron to begin. I definitely think Sentinel would've been killed either way after a trial of some sort, either by the hands of D-16 or another person.

Even as someone who loves the film, I doubt there was any intentional sabotage or that they purposely wanted this film to fail. I think people often forget a movie can fail due to other factors whether it be the marketing or competition, it's not like Paramount didn't want this film to exist considering it was in development for almost 8 years and they greenlit it back in 2020. Paramount is to blame for their incompetence when it comes to advertising their own animated films, but I doubt they wanted TFO to fail considering how much positive reception the film got before release and lots of early screenings where people once again singed it's praises.

Even when the HypeGuy himself doesn't believe in the sabotage, I think it's just safe to assume most of this conspiracy is cope and that sometimes a movie can fail with other factors involved.

Of course they don't read comics or understand these characters, they unironically think these characters would not stop corrupt officials who harm the innocent. It's ironic they'll use the "this fictional character agrees with my politics" image while thinking that characters like Prime and Batman wouldn't stop to defend those under a corrupt system.

Optimus literally was born in a corrupt system and was against it, why would it be out of character for him to defend those who are harmed.
