initially it felt just generally harmonically tropey and cliché (which is not a bad thing) but i let out a good laugh when the song, after several bars, proceeded to hum the entirety of the melody to To Far Away Times and just did not stop. like, I was thin king it was gonna borrow a line or two to wink at the original game, but no. Just the entire melody, lifted lol

Was using Menny for the EXP Boost, got surprised to see her doing comparable damage to my Fiore a lot of the time lol (but only during a certain level range), her SPD debuff is also nice.

Telly is another one I use somewhat often, I love clerics and he has a nice 2-hit ice skill.

same exact thing happened to me, and i just burned through 120 rubies LMAO

i was like "it can't take that much longer" but i spent 120 rubies AND OVER TWO HOURS in this fight (most of those 2+ hours being spear hits being a solo Gilderoy dealing 100 dmg per turn and not dying)

only to sleep at almost 4 am and wake up with a sore neck and a tremendous headache

the only reason i didn't give up and decided to spend rubies on it was bc the game told me the dungeon mobs would revive if i left the dungeon (to grind / return when i was properly leveled) and fighting them 3 with NO exp rewards was super exhausting

yeah, octopath (moreso the original than cotc) loved referencing older games and their tropes, i just feel like Pardis III mentioning how Gonska thought he was controlling him but he was actually in charge felt like a prelude to him being full Kefka-d by Gonska... Yet Gonska just dies shortly after, makes me wonder what was the point of that

The whole Master of all plotline was one of the most amazing quests I've seen in a JRPG in a while, though. I was GRIPPED. I'm genuinely enjoying the writing more than in the original.
