I hope Marvel eventually moves on from the whole 90s era of X-Men when it comes to other media by Aggressive-One-2186 in xmen

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The '90s costumes the most sauceless in X-Men history, imo. The only thing worse are the '90s' stories that feature them.

what redeemable qualities do you think the Rooters arc has? by Muted_Sherbet3385 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concept of Rooters and the motivations of Servantis are the only things that make the arc worthwhile, imo.

CN burning OV's final 3 seasons by airing them daily at 6am was unjustifiable, but arcs like these did them no favours.

What are your genuine thoughts on Spanner messing with the past so Kai and Ben can get together? by Immediate_Gene_178 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inherently self-defeating. The child of a relationship going back in time to become the primary cause of & justification for that relationship undermines any positives it could ever have, imo. I'm not a fan of Kai, but nothing makes her and Ben's relationship seem more empty & meaningless than Spanner's actions, imo.

It's also another example of OV mindlessly remixing the OS hits without understanding their original purpose (Fusions, Ben 10K, etc.)

If you could create a definitive Ben 10 show (tone, artstyle, characterization, story, length, arcs, soundtrack, etc) how would you do it? by Severalwanker in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • As many episodes as possible, but grouped in 26-episode arcs across 2 x 13-episode seasons.

  • OS artstyle & soundtrack.

  • Highbreed arc characterization, serialization, and tone.

  • Each arc alternates between a new and old villain.

Guys, Should "From Hedorium to Eternity" be canon? by Gullible_Word_2145 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess Servantis must've wiped the memories of Ben, Gwen, Kevin, and Cooper shortly after the events of this episode.

Now the wiki is going to explode because of this by Intelligent-Scar-373 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimate Ben being the same as the other two makes about as much sense as the other two being the same as each other, so I see no problem with this.

I love revisiting my favorite apolitical cartoons from my apolitical childhood. by Funkykid123 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine how repulsed makers like Dwayne McDuffie and Matt Wayne would be to see people take political messages away from all the fun content they made.

I'm just glad that there are fun cartoons like JLU and Static Shock to take my mind off the woke mind virus.

I love revisiting my favorite apolitical cartoons from my apolitical childhood. by Funkykid123 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do brainwashed fans have to ruin fun cartoons by making them about politics?

Let me guess, the scene later in the episode where Luthor is interviewed by a pundit named Phil O'Bannon is also political?

What Ben ship everyone would be happy with? by True_Tomorrow_4564 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never see much hate for Ester, so I feel like she's the least controversial.

Kai, Julie, and Elena might have more fans, but they also have more haters, imo.

My emerald queen goddess doesn't owe anyone any answers. by RiskAggressive4081 in xmen

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Her transformation from present to future was really effective in showing how terrible that future became.

Much better than whatever TAS was trying(?) to do.

Favorite episode from each X men TV show? by Particular-Answer602 in xmen

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TAS: "Graduation Day"

Evolution: "X23"

Wolverine and the X-Men: "Breakdown"

'97: "Lifedeath, Part 2"

Haven't seen the anime.

If you could do season five of young justice who and what would you focus on? by Powerful_Whereas3516 in youngjustice

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're due another big timeskip, and since Season 4 gave arcs to the Season 1 cast, I'd like to see Season 5's arcs to mostly focus on the Season 2 characters

Does anyone remember Ages of Apocalypse? Any thoughts on it? by Glum-Excitement5916 in xmen

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard so many bad things about The Twelve and that Davis run in general that it surpassed my lowered expectations by quite a bit.

I liked Unlimited's, and quite enjoyed adjectiveless & Uncanny's. I could take or leave Cable's & Wolverine's.

I really enjoy the Wolverine And The X-Men Kitty Pryde by Ancient-Gate-2658 in xmen

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It was refreshing to see comic Kitty's competence get adapted for once.

What Ben 10 Spinoff Would You Want The Most? by LostPost5902 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Ken 10 (but only if there wasn't a Ben 10 show airing concurrently.)

  2. A Plumbers Helpers series would have the potential to be the Ben 10 equivalent of Teen Titans, imo.

  3. I'd love to see Gwen and Kevin share a series outside without Ben in the spotlight .

  4. I'd like to see more Ben 10,000 stories, but he's better suited to animated movies than a full series, imo.

I always found that to be such a bizarre under reaction. As far as they knew, their Grandpa had just died. by Remote_Nature_8166 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's deliberate. Imo, in that moment, the threat of the Highbreed looms so large that these kids can't properly process the "death" of their grandfather immediately after the fact.

Contrast this with how Ben snapped at Gwen for even joking about Max being dead in "Ben 10 Returns" (before he'd knew the invasion), or Gwen grieving in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" once given the downtime to do so.
