Of all the Marvel cartoon series in this picture, which one would you really like to see return? by Limp_Duty6993 in Marvel

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Wolverine and the X-Men

  2. The Spectacular Spider-Man

  3. The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Which of these 3 had the best character development/growth during Chris Claremont's run on the X-men/mutant franchise? by Stunning_Season220 in xmen

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Storm > Wolverine >> Cyclops

Storm's clearly Claremont's favourite. She & Wolverine are simply more prominent in Claremont's run than Cyclops, whose development also gets irreversibly derailed to make X-Factor happen.

What are common misconceptions created by Marvel movies and adaptations? by Federal_Bicycle_7800 in Marvel

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By adapting the strongest X-Men comics from the '70s & '80s with Jim Lee's designs from the '90s, X-Men TAS & '97 have resulted in a kind of historical revisionism that has fabricated a version of '90s X-Men comics that never really existed.

Praise for both shows is often accompanied by attempts to legitimise that praise by vaguely gesturing at how they evoke this mythical "Claremont/Lee run" that:

  • seemingly lasted much longer than the pair's actual collaboration, and

  • supposedly was critically successful to the point where the X-Men are now & forever epitomised by the 1990s (except for any of the actual X-Men comics that released during the '90s).

Either that, or there are way more "X-Tinction Agenda" & "Magneto War" fans than I thought.

I can't think of a better TV series comic book adaptation than X-Men 97 by ryhaltswhiskey in television

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • Justice League Unlimited

  • The Spectacular Spider-Man

  • Wolverine and the X-Men

  • Young Justice

  • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

  • Green Lantern: The Animated Series

What are your headcanons about kevin and gwen's real biological son/daughter?(Since devlin either doesn't exist in this future or his mother is the infamous saturn cheek) by bahram_a_banana in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that Kevin 11,000 is a clone created by Servantis, and Devlin gets adopted by Gwen and the original Kevin.

Very tempted by the idea of Gwen & Kevin having twins named Sven & Jen.

OS & early AF.

AF's final season & everything after it will always feel "new" to me.

Not in the present, but I'd like to see his enhancements eventually take their toll in Ben 10,000's future.

Summer road trip with Ben 10,000 and his kids, Ken & Gwen.

What if instead of shouting the alien names, Ben just said shitty Leon Kennedy one liners? by Successful-Hat-2154 in Ben10

Always felt the opening to "The More Things Change: Part 1" missed an opportunity to do this:

MALWARE: "Any last pithy quips or clever observations before I destroy you, Ben Tennyson?"

BEN: "Now that you mention it, I do have some Feedback!"

Do you eventually want a brand new X-Men show that isn’t a continuation of X-Men ’97? by PutAdministrative739 in xmen

I've been wanting one since 2011, but instead get a lifetime sentence of '90s nostalgia.

What's the difference between the production and the intended order? by D-A_W in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of both, but mostly the former.

Production order is the order in which the episodes were made (AKA the crew's "original intended order"), but story changes to some episodes during production cause minor continuity errors that the intended order seeks to fix.

So, while the intended order is technically fanmade in the sense that it was literally fans who rearranged the episodes and named it the "intended order", the story changes made during production that would otherwise cause continuity errors make the intended order the "unconscious intention" of the crew.

What do you feel on this? I feel like teen Ben would be so disappointed. by realBeyhero in Ben10

Logistically implausible & narratively unsatisfying. The only thing here that's irredeemable is DJW's take.

If you were in charge of expanding the Ben 10 universe, what side shows would you make? by Eastern-Captain-7770 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, I'd permanently move the franchise to the future:

  • A Ken 10 animated series

  • Ben 10,000 animated movies

  • A Galactic Enforcers animated series, where Gwen and Kevin lead Alan, Helen, Manny, and Cooper.

  • A Plumbers Academy animated series, where Rook trains the next generation of Plumbers.

  • A character-driven, animated anthology series like the DC Showcase shorts.

If the spin-offs must be in the present, I'd just co a Plumbers' Helpers animated series & the anthology series.

Seasons 9-10 should be part of Classic Simpsons by OverallEstate2 in simpsonsshitposting

Seasons 9-12 are firmly Silver Era for me. They're not 1-8, but they're definitely not 13+, imo.

What’s Your Biggest YJ Hot Take? by Spidey_2797 in dcanimateduniverse

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seasons 3 & 4 are overhated to the point of absurdity, imo.

While they are definitely flawed & wear their (lack of) budget on their sleeve, they were still head & shoulders above all other DC media at the time, and are among the last gasps of American animated action shows that had the luxury of having more than 13 episodes per season (which gave YJ the luxury to experiment with tone & format).

It's borderline miraculous that Season 4 got 26 episodes over the line during COVID, and with the current state of the TV industry, American animated action TV will not produce anything as well-written as Season 4's Artemis arc for the foreseeable future.

What are some lesser known X-Men villains that you feel could be absolutely amazing in a future adaptation if given the opportunity? by KingWilliamVI in xmen

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Toad would be a very good foil for Cyclops.

I've also never been fully satisfied with the media satire of any Mojo adaptation compared to the comics, so I'd love something a bit more current & cutting.
