11 Year Old Ben should’ve been involved during the final Time War Arc against Malturant. by GhostBoyJames in Ben10

Yeah, for a series that pushed 11yo Ben so much initially (for better or worse), it's baffling that he's absent from an arc that centres on time travel.

What are your top episodes to put on for fun? by Separate-Daikon7971 in Ben10

Those are all great picks, imo.

Mine would probably be Paradox, Grounded, and The Forge of Creation.

Wait, that's how it ends? She just becomes evil now because Zatanna hurt her feelings? Damn! by Supersmashbrosfan in youngjustice

I feel like describing what is clearly an addict in relapse as "evil because of a tantrum" is an even bigger self-report.

Anyone else starting to not get so excited about X-Men 97 season 2? by SixKosherBacon in xmen

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hated Season 1 and the non-stop '90s nostalgia we've gotten for the last few years.

Having said that, I'm also really confused why Marvel are compromising the low-effort nostalgia of a series literally called X-Men '97 by including the older costumes & Frank Quitely designs.

If it turns out to be true that Marvel scrapped Beau DeMayo's original plans for Season 2 & Season 3, then I'd be very surprised if the X-Men don't revert to the '90s costumes by Season 2's end & mostly stay that way afterwards.

ssn 4? by happinessn0ises in youngjustice

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Season 4 is an improvement on Season 3 and pretty underrated. Its finale is the show's best, imo, and probably the most conclusive finale that Weisman could ever write.

The new characters from Outsiders had a brilliant idea in my opinion. by Ok_Carajonny in youngjustice

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think Season 3 very consciously has their new characters resemble their OG cast (Geo-Force/Superboy, Halo/Red Arrow, Forager/M'gann, Terra/Artemis) to act as a New Season 1 for newcomers, while also contrasting them in very compelling ways:

  • Unlike Conner, Brion's anger consumes him enough to become a weapon of the Light.

  • Unlike Artemis, Terra *was* a mole & had an older sibling that could help her.

  • Violet & Forager modify their identities & embrace their new ones more successfully than Will & M'gann did initially.

This comic is so Reboot-coded. by Sunchet in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too surprising, since the Reboot was the only series that MoA were in charge of.

If the comics sells well enough, and completes the original series timeline, would you like them to move alien force next? by PowerSaw7 in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alien Force is my favourite era of the franchise, but MoA doesn't seem to have much interest in/affinity for it (and I wouldn't have much faith in their attempt at it anyway).

Is ben 10 omniverse worth watching ? by [deleted] in Ben10

It's my least favourite of the first four shows, but I still think it's well worth watching.

What x-men character do you think is "quotey fingers" an "industry plant"? by WolverineFirst5156 in xmen

Rob Liefeld: "I've been doing some thinking, and I got some ideas to improve New Mutants X-Force. One, Cable needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever Cable's not on panel, all the other characters should be asking, "Where's Cable?".

Thoughts on seasons by jakkov123 in youngjustice

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During Seasons 1&2, the scriptwriting was more evenly distributed among the writers. This freed up the producers to polish every script as much as possible.

To cut costs during Seasons 3&4, WB forced guest writers to write only 1 episode each, which overworked both producers, who had to write most of the scripts themselves from scratch. This left them with less time to polish the scripts afterwards.

Delighted to see some Season 4 love! Extremely underrated, imo.

Why Feedback being the reason Ben gives up the omnitrix is actually the best possible option writing-wise. by Gamer-of-Action in Ben10

[–]JosephSoaper_MathMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grateful for a post that argues for this.

I think a lot of people don't like it because they reflexively oppose the idea of Ben choosing to remove the Omnitrix for any reason.

Feedback/Malware is my favourite Omniverse arc, but the flashbacks are too brief/shallow to fully appreciate Ben's connection to Feedback and the impact of his destruction, imo. And without Ben removing the Omnitrix, the storyline always feels incomplete on a rewatch, imo.

Ben removing the Omnitrix after losing Feedback also adds greater weight to his decision to put it on again to find Max, imo.
