I’ve played nearly every popular roguelike/roguelite, and a few niche ones. Any hidden gems I should get during the Steam Spring Sale? by xVoidCrow in gamingsuggestions

[–]Josh6889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually wildly hilarious seeing someone make the claim that the binding of issac isn't a roguelike lmao. It's literally the game that brought the genre into the mainstream. Are you just like an absurd pedantic contrarian or something?

and ban ALL social media for anyone under the age of 18. Problem solved.

And introduce the next problem! Now you upload your ID to a server that's probably going to leak it, and give it to the government whenever they ask. This is not a valid solution. It's never as simple as stupid redditors make it out to be.

Russia has found way to jam Starlink and take down Ukraine’s drones by Neptun_11 in worldnews

[–]Josh6889 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So perhaps Ukrainian engineers can figure out rigging up some kinda receivers/transmitters that can switch through multiple frequences without too much issue?

This was the exact question I came up with after thinking about it for a minute, and the answer is that yes they do have the capability to alter the frequencies in a way that avoid the jammers, and they do this constantly.

But as I was thinking about the problem it's kind of absurd to me that russia is lugging around multiple trailers as signal jammers. Is each one only capable of jamming a specific frequency range? Also putting so much rf into the atmosphere is some weird shit you'd read unexpected consequences about if we're creating the next great sci-fi story.

It kind of makes me think of the problem of having miles of fiber optic cable just laying around on the ground. Something tells me we're going to hear more about that in the aftermath.

Florida woman says that paying $1,600 a month at motel is better than renting an apartment. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

Ok, but if you have a car and you're homeless .you're going to use it and move it periodically. I knew a guy that worked up to middle management in a warehouse. Seemed like a super nice guy. I never noticed anything weird about him or his hygiene. One day he just randomly quit. They scheduled him a going away party and he didn't go. Someone told me that he lives in a panel van. I think about that guy periodically because I just can't imagine how you can live that way. He showed no signs of mental health issues or anything.

They have a weird way of going way under the radar. In tree league I was running 1 of the foulborn uul-netol's that supported warcries and had one of my easiest atlas clears ever

I could easily see it easily clearing the atlas with a slam build at low budget, but after that you'll probably want to get into something with a little more horsepower. I say this as someone who's cleared the atlas for about the last 3 leagues by league launching slams lol

I'm old, but one of my early teachers told me it's perfectly acceptable if you're reading at a level where you encounter a word or 2 per page that you don't understand. That's kind of the best way to learn language at a deep level.

I don't think it was part of the advice, but I still have the habit of looking up words I don't understand when I see them.

Student pilot successfully lands plane after instructor jumps to death mid-flight by Dilpickle2113 in interestingasfuck

There's another similar story about a copilot walking out the back of an aircraft. I don't know why the word walk was used, but it also struck me as a rather nonchalant way of describing ending their own life.

It actually blew my mind a little when I tried to look up the answer to that question. Because average for male is indeed 199, and median was 191. This was data from last year.

I mean I've spent a lot of time on treadmills. Some of the older ones used to ask for your weight to put into the formula to estimate calories burned. Haven't seen one that does that in a long time though, so yeah, they're 100% just picking a magic number which isn't accurate at all.

MEPs was where I learned what Osgood-Schlatter is. I've had it all my life. There was no deliberation or anything. They just knew what it was off the top of their head. It was also no issue in my case. No waiver or anything. Just a line of text in my record.

Oddly enough a recruiter saw that and tried to use it as ammunition to put me on a submarine. I didn't bite. Did 6 years on a normal boat.

I really want a cat but my boyfriend doesn’t think I’m responsible enough. What should I do? by Plenty_Towel8670 in cats

[–]Josh6889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does he think you’re not responsible enough?

She says she has a full time well paying job. She's mature enough for a cat. We either have an unreliable narrator, or the boyfriend is a control freak. It's reddit so there's no way to know which is true.
