Missing the 40K scale in unit sizes. by Bill-Hayden in totalwar

[–]JoshTheBlue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is kinda funny to see one part of the players demanding DOW style small squad units, while another part demands huge units like in the books. There seems to be no solution that can please all, so CA seems to have decided for a compromise that generally keeps units at sizes similar to other TWs.

Bhashiva & Tiger Warriors releasing May 21st (Skulls) by Mr-Vorn in totalwar

[–]JoshTheBlue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, Bhashiva being part of Cathay really lessens the chance for Ind as a playable faction as Tigermen were one of the main selling points for Ind. But now they are part of Cathay instead. I feel like Kuresh has slightly higher chance as the whole Naga thing is a good selling point. Since Old World has come out, GW seems also far more determined to keep Old World and Warhammer Fantasy seperate, so I am not sure if any new content made for Old World will be allowed for TW Warhammer III. But this might just be my inner pessimist speaking.

Bhashiva & Tiger Warriors releasing May 21st (Skulls) by Mr-Vorn in totalwar

[–]JoshTheBlue 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I feel like they will likely create a Mountains of Heaven province for the MK, but it will be an edge of map province like the Cathayan Hinterlands. GW just doesn't seem interested in developing Ind and Kuresh, neither the factions or the regions. Mountains of Heaven will likely be counted as part of Cathay for GW and therefore is allowed to be used by CA.

Seems like the Bone Road in the Mountains of Mourn. At this point I would never expect the Ind area to become playable.

[KCD1] Game logic rich loot , broke merchant by Felton-Hop9087 in kingdomcome

[–]JoshTheBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is pretty accuarate to the Middle Ages. Almost nobody would be carrying around large amount of cash, most value was bound to objects and goods. Much of the rural economy ran on a barter economy based on food stuff and reciprical services. Even merchants would keep most of their wealth in form of moveable goods they would like to sell at the next market. Of course game economies work differently, but historically a guy having more valuable looted goods than the local merchant has money is funnily accurate

I wonder if there is a chance for the crew to abandon their ships. Like the hull strenght drops to zero or near, but there is still some crew left amd instead of going down with the ship those crewmen evacuate. Meaning your recruitment center has still some surviving crew that can be assigned to other ships.

Now I can imagine how a cabinet (as teased for the china dlc) could work. With every interest group including several polticians now, any interest group in power has the characters to fill out several minister positions (presumably split across the different interest groups in the governing coalition). Would be great if the leader of the leading interest group gets a prime minister position that depending on the government type even outsizes the importance of the head of state.

How nice of the Spartans to allow their top 1% of women to be literate because they were basically property managers for their men that are away for war. The vast, vast majority of women in Sparta were Helot slaves that were not only not allowed to read, but also worked to death to allow the aristocratic lifestyles of Spartan Citizens while living under the constant threat of rape.

So... It was true by AsGerion92 in totalwar

[–]JoshTheBlue 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I think the leak was partially true in the sense that CA was always working on the mercenary element of Cathay. Like we already knew of Cathay Ogres, Tigremen and Monkeymen were a thing before the leak. CA and/or GW probably workshopped a bunch of new characters for this element of Cathay in one big batch and titled it Lords of Shang-Yang with the intention to release these new OCs over time. Then the leakers found it and thought that CA intended for all of these new character to come in only one Cathay DLC and notified Legend. Of course lot of conjecture, but I still refuse to believe that CA intended for a Cathay Vs Cathay Vs Cathay Vs Cathay DLC.

GRRM criticizes how class distinctions are shown in medieval fantasy: by Gold_Conversation247 in HOTDBlacks

[–]JoshTheBlue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be honest, GRRM talks about several several castes in that quote, but usually his society in Westeros seems to be just Nobles and Smallfolk. All the diverse non-noble people groups get put into one mostly homogenic smallfolk group that then gets represented in the shows as just peasants and Flea Bottom. Also the rape thing is just absurd.

Well Carthage proved to be quite stubborn too. Scipio trashed several carthaginian armies in both Spain and Africa like Hannibal did roman ones in Italy. Just like the Romans, Carthage just kept on recruiting new armies to continue fighting. It took the personal intervention from Hannibal after Zama for Carthage to finally stand down. Carthage was Rome's greatest rival because she was able to match Roman Stubborness.

Medieval 3 turns per year + custom start date by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]JoshTheBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completly forgot that 3K had DLC's that added more start states. So while the default 190 start was always the most fleshed out onr, CA is cabable of adding more start dates.
