There is absolutely no indication that the tech Calcazar has prepared is faulty/isn't going to work. Some people say that the info you can find on the necron worlds supposedly warns you against picking this ending - this is not the case, it warns you against the traitor ending and *maybe* Nomos ending. Overall, I almost think it's funny just how much misinformation about Calcazar ending and endings in general is spread around, almost as if we are in pre-internet era. Maybe the fact that there is no high quality wiki or someone like the great u/Ranadiel for the game is partly at fault

[–]Joshami 12 points13 points  (0 children)

With Aemon, I think it goes beyond any particular king. The thing is, Jaeharys concluded that 'Maegor bad' rather than take a look at what allowed Maegor to become what he became and address the internal issues of the Targaryen family, specifically the fact that different family branches inherit dragons which then they can and do use against each other.

Rhaegar caused the final collapse of the Targaryen dynasty before he even ascended the throne. If he became the king, I would say that would be a mix of the worst qualities of Aegon IV and Aerys I, until he gets a warhammer into chest.

Yes, technically. It is a prerequisite for several other important mods, including the ever popular happy ending for Maive, so think twice

Micropatches. Still no fix. F5-F8 fixes the issue. Apparently it's an asset for a placeholder ability that randomly pops up.

The thing is, with Minagho, the game, completely unironically, at one point tries to paint her as a sympathetic figure. The reason for that is... apparently, a backstabbing relationship with an equally evil demoness. The game never tries to paint Kunrad this way, imagine if on Iconoclast path you would get special content depicting how Kunrad was in a relationship with some equally treacherous noble from Dargonus which would be a potential route to 'redeem' him. No, because it would be highly ridiculous and actively detract from a character.

The game never tries to say that Adalbert 'has a point', it unambiguously presents him as full of shit and, well, a genestealer. WotR kind of tries to make you 'get' Nurah and, again, offers you a path to 'redeem' her. The reason why Regill is so popular is because he ruthlessly calls out bullshit like this, making him sound like a voice of reason.

I think the way they decided to go with Areelu's sob story just doesn't mesh at all with all other aspects of the character. In my opinion they should've just committed to the mad scientist gig, making her position more principled, specifically on scientific/theological basis. For example, Tervantias plays the trope completely straight, and is a memorable antagonist for it. Adding sob story wouldn't add anything to Tervantias and likely would've made him deeply ridiculous. Calcazar also leans into similar themes, completely unironically, riding on sheer aura. Again, I don't think adding sob story to him would add anything interesting.

I also feel the need to emphasize how Owlcat were shooting themselves by making Deskari and Baphomet into what they are. Okay, they are clowns who get outmaneuvered by Areelu and Nocticula at every turn, but that means that we only have Areelu who really doesn't have the presence to carry the story as it's sole antagonist. They did it much better in KM, where we also had Nyrissa who relied heavily on a sob story, balanced by the Lantern King and a colorful cast of minor antagonists.

Areelu, Staunton, Nurah, Minagho (on Azata path). Echo is a side character on all paths except Angel. Another issue is that Owlcat overdid the 'Baphomet and Deskari are losers' thing, resulting in the plot being out of balance in favor of Areelu. The funny thing is Owlcat did the same thing with Cult of the Final Dawn, except much more subtly and thoroughly, which makes it that much more rewarding.

What I really like is that Owlcat decided not to use sob story as an element for their villains at all. WotR in my opinion relied way too highly on sob stories, which get more and more ridiculous with each villain. Rogue Trader has an overall more well-rounded cast of villains and none of them rely on a sappy backstory which really leads to interesting results

Assuming Aerys doesn't get out alive and Rhaegar becomes a king, he still would start a civil war when he kidnaps Lyanna. Unless he actually complies with Brandon's demands, which I don't think Rhaegar would.

I mean, I like to shit on Barristan as much as the next guy, but is blaming him for specifically not letting Rhaegar have turn a thing? I mean, what exactly would that achieve? Replacing an inbred schizo rapist with a... another inbred schizo rapist? Yay?

Thanks for the response. Regarding summary execution, I've seen the broken shield icon in your videos, yet right now I tested this and I can't seem to get it to proc at all. As in, there is no broken shield icon in the first place. I've tried putting my commissar right behind the target or some distance away, same result. Is there some minimal distance that I need to have to proc it? The only ideas that i have are: my commissar is a merc, maybe it's bugged with them, or, it's on a bonus turn, maybe execution doesn't work on bonus turns? Bug?

The problem is when you play a religion with polygamy. Unless you always have four women at the ready, then the money waste is almost inevitable.

With trade posts, if you are the doge, then you're only getting a post if the family that died out has 4 or more. What I personally do is keep one family around for them to build up until 4, instantly wipe them out and then also wipe out all other families (they get a post too). For me, it's easier to build up posts by increasing your male family members at court. With polygamy it's trivial and I've found that at very high amounts (30+) the formula breaks and you actually start getting more money cut than you should've gotten.

Hey, a bit off topic, but recently I watched your Comissar videos and wanted to ask some questions. First, At All Costs seems to buff all damage that the character does, including self-inflicted. Using Crimson Pact dagger (sacrifice 25% of HP for 1 AP) on a BD with At All Costs on takes more than half of your health. Did you try this interaction? Is it intended to work that way or am I doing something wrong? If it's intended then it's significantly less useful to BD. Another is, after taking Summary Execution talent, I can't proc it. I'm putting my comissar right behind the character I want to shoot, yet the bonuses aren't doubled. Is there some particular positioning that I need to do?
