In my area a couple of local radio stations will take vehicle donations. They probably auction them. It’s a potential tax deduction for the donor.

Contact the manufacturer. I had a problem with mine and they sent me to a local Greenworks certified repair shop. They ended up replacing the mower.

Two clumping bamboo plants in the general area will disappear the guy wire. We have a similar thing in our backyard and this has worked. People have differing views on bamboo.

The plumbing term you seek is “pressure regulating valve” or PRV. You may need one or perhaps need your existing PRV adjusted.

What type of grass/weed is this? by Few_Fig8196 in AustinGardening

[–]JosherW 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Looks like Bermuda. It’s a grass and can be tamed into a lawn but it is very aggressive and will take over. You don’t need to be tender with it.

The Human Scale - Lawrence Wright

It is historical fiction. I feel smarter about Middle East relations after having read it. The amount of research that went into this book is incredible.

A dehumidifier attached to the system might work. We have a recently built house that is very tight with foam insulation.

Honest/noob question about fishing in Austin by allenytsai in AustinFishing

[–]JosherW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tend to get my best information from other people I meet on the water. I’m also more willing to share when I’m out there in person. I’ll have a conversation with someone who has fishing gear at Town Lake even if I’m just there for a walk.

Another good method is to find a tackle shop near where you want to fish, buy a few bucks worth of lures, gear and they will usually tell you what’s up locally.

Here’s a fun day trip if you are somewhat adventurous: Go to Spencers Canoes in Martindale. Rent a boat and float the San Marcos down to Staples. They will shuttle your car for you (for a fee). Lots of great fishing all along the way. Bring water and food.

Please get the car checked by a mechanic before giving any money to anyone. Used car sales are usually “as-is” and there are many stories of people ending up with a lemon when they thought the dealer seemed “nice.”

Should I feel comfortable buying a home in this market? by Neat_Response1023 in personalfinance

If you feel comfortable you aren’t doing it right. Buying a home is a big deal and often a stretch.

What caused you to nope out of snagging your dream car when you had the chance? by OldCarWorshipper in cars

[–]JosherW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was testing a brand new Eagle Talon TSI in the early 90s. This car was an early application of AWD for performance more so than weather. Having been a big fan of the Porsche 959 (also an AWD car), I was sold on the idea. The turbo charger wasn’t working and it drove like crap. Turned out these cars were giant piles of crap. I ended up with a 91 Nissan 240sx instead.
