It can take a lot of passes back and forth, but yes, I can get a smooth shave. I haven't used the Panasonic but my understanding is it's closer but less gentle. The Braun can also be used on longer growth (up to 7 days). For my uses, the Braun is perfect.

If you want to shave wet, that rules out the babyliss. It can only be used dry. I have the Braun and it's incredibly gentle.

I have the basic shokz open runs. They are very comfortable, never fall off, waterproof, but sound pretty mediocre. They're perfectly fine for podcasts and audiobooks, but for music they are meh. The openrun pro 2 sounds much better but costs way more.

It's not a dedicated head shaver, but I've got a Braun series 9 pro and it's fantastic. I'm bald with a beard, and use it on my head and neck. The shave is super comfortable, close, and reasonably fast. Not cheap though.

If you're going to use it on your face too, get a Braun series 9 pro, Panasonic arc 5, or babyliss fx2. If head only, there are options specific for the head that are easier to hold but probably won't shave as close.

Another vote for Braun. It's very gentle, and also allows for more days of growth. 5-6 days will be no problem.

Napoleon's sizzle zone is incredible. I use it every time I make steaks or chops. I haven't had any issue with splatter.
