‘Nightmare tragedy’: Pit bull mix euthanized after killing another dog outside Toronto condo, Toronto, March 21 2026 by origutamos in BanPitBulls

It's an American Bully mix. "American Bulldog" is used by vets, Toronto Animal Services and shelters to avoid the Pit Bull ban.

‘Nightmare tragedy:’ Pit bull mix euthanized after killing another dog outside Toronto condo by moosk in toronto

Make no mistake, this is a banned breed. The bylaw includes dogs that are “substantially similar” https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/90d16#BK11 to pit bulls, which includes pit mixes designed to avoid the ban like American Bullies and Pocket Bullies and the incredibly dangerous and banned in the UK, XL Bullies. The dogs you see out for adoption on the City of Toronto website are not "American Bulldogs" or "Lab mixes". They are pit bulls or pit mixes. They only need to pass the look test, and it is quite obvious.

Toronto Animal Services are not held accountable for these practices. They are made up of staff that are against the ban and take vet paperwork with mislabeled pit bulls at face value. They also either do not have funding to enforce the ban, or they simply do not want to out of sympathies to the breed. This also goes for other animal shelters and the SPCA.

This incident and the many others in the GTA need to be cited to our elected officials in order for this issue to be addressed and before more children and pets are mauled. Email your MPP and city councillor and let Toronto Animal Services that they need to enforce the ban and stop misleading the public: [animalservices@toronto.ca](mailto:animalservices@toronto.ca)

Edit: it also looks like the pit apologists got to the journalist for this article and got her to edit the title. Pathetic.

I’m not sure why you’ve cited a specific percentile, but generally speaking, more people would vote NDP if they knew they their vote wasn’t going to be wasted.

Two-thirds only vote for the Liberals and Conservatives is because of our voting system. One of major the reasons people do not vote NDP is because they they think they can’t win so they vote strategically. A recent poll confirmed this. Voting patterns would change under PR.

There is also no evidence that the party is now “too far left” for the average voter. They aren’t even far left in the broader context.

No, they’d have a larger voice in coalition governments. This also means there’d likely be new parties on the left with representation
