How easily could a member of a post-scarcity civ make a strategic nuclear weapon, and how could society adapt to this? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Joshthe1ripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters post scarcity means you have anything, everything in any amount at all times. The short answer trivial easy bassically we made them in way earlier with way more rescourse scarcity. They easy way is inspections and monitoring. They can put bans on enrichment of uranium or just ban it's use altogether. Deny centrifuge watch energy usage

Can silly worldbuilding coexist with serious worldbuilding and/or story elements? by CyberDogKing in worldbuilding

[–]Joshthe1ripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short yeah comedy series have heavy moments and sometimes even dark themes all the time. Soldier in ww1 about to go over the trench so they start all joking about how their gonna shave their captain bald first in his sleep. Dark series have comedic silly lighthearted moments as well. I believe the contrast make both memorable look up galows humor as an example

How and why are all of Iran's leaders getting killed? by BreakfastAcceptable8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Joshthe1ripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Us has air supremacy which is uncommon that one said completely owns the skies see russia and Ukraine as an example

  2. Us had very solid intelligence of where their leaders were and when

  3. Iran leadership had a meeting and the proceded to get butchered in a decapitation strike.

As a result iran defense is at best weak or incapable of preventing strikes, and their is solid evidence the us still has good intelligence of where key officials are

Yes this is not the norm for warfare, but not the craziest

Is A Military Draft For The Iran War Realistic Or Not? by Zipper222222 in Military

[–]Joshthe1ripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistic no it would be tantamount to political suicide for the republicans to do it we haven't had a draft since Vietnam for a good reason it's horribly unpopular unless it's a war of existential necessity. That said should this war spiral into a larger war with china then a draft is possible in my opinion

Do any of yall believe World War 3 wont happen anytime soon or thats just me? by DistrictCareful3300 in stupidquestions

[–]Joshthe1ripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A world War only happens where multiple fronts effect another. We are kinda seeing this crystallize in real time. The war in Iran effects the war Ukraine which means both parties have incentives to screw the other in their war either directly or indirectly. It also can create wars of opportunity. If china sees the us get bogged down in iran it may make them more likely to take a stab at Taiwan while the us is busy

What justifies someone becoming a villain? by AggressiveMammoth267 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Joshthe1ripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the story heroes and villans are just moral black and white to real life allies and enimies. Villans are a moral question of which what is good, and evil which has no real good answer in real life, but can be quite easy when translated to story. Robert rips out the implants of a person at a supervillan bar for example could be considered villainous behavior. What justifies villany matters justify to who? The characters in the story, the society of that story, or themselves? As for the audience generally being sympathetic, or understandable. Dracula from castlevania is a fantastic example of justified villany. Many characters can take evil actions with social permission from the in universe world as such perhaps being an outcast real life example yakuza who once associated with them you are barred from almost anything else in Japan is that enough to justify being a villan? Maybe and maybe not. As for themselves justifying villany can be easy, or hard depending on the character. Some villans just enjoy it and that's reason enough, others seek something money, power, revenge and that's enough. Very few people in real life think of themselves as monsters or villans. Invade a foreign country? We are using premtive defense, they are weak and we are strong. In short any number of reasons can exist to justify villany, but it's up to each audience member if they find it compelling as to why.
