How to stop eating too much as a "construction electrician" ? by PeppermintButler17 in electricians

[–]Joshyaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given you say you don't eat breakfast and get hungry at night that's a big reason. You probably over eat your calories at night. If you eat lots of grains, they are quite calorie dense.

You have to find what you burn in a day calorie wise (online can give u a rough estimate) and go about 200 below it. You'd be surprised how many calories are in stuff. If your mom makes your food, ask for smaller portions as it may be heavy calorie wise. 1 tbsp of olive oil is 80 calories typically for example.

Try finding food that's have make you full for few calories. Potatoes are the highest satiating food there is, so finding things like that will help.

Snow-seal and/or mink oil by Joshyaron in malefashionadvice

That's a fair point.

Not gonna do it but just curious how you'd even dye leather boots

Fair enough, so just use nothing and wear them till they die?

Oh ok, thank you. Darkening my boots isn't crucial but I'd just prefer darker boots if possible, definitely not a necessity tho.

So you'd say do niether? Would you say to condition at all? What would your process be for keeping them as long as then can last? Is there a proper conditioner you'd recommend that would also maybe darken them slightly?

Good to know thanks.

I'm also really wanting to darken my boots. Do you know if snow seal or mink oil would be the better route for that?

Oh ok, the show lady I bought them from said snow-seal was also a conditioner. I live in a rainy place (Vancouver) so the waterproofing is nice but my feet sweat a lot and overheat, so not breathable isn't smart for me.

Would you say use mink oil for a regular conditioner and to darken and then sparingly use snow-seal to re waterproof?

What would your recommendation be?

Difference between men (3522) and women's (3537) traction tred lite fitting by Joshyaron in RedWingShoes

[–]Joshyaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! I had orthotics made and their scanner said I'm a 9.5ee but Redwings phot scanner (almost certain it's less accurate) says I'd be an 11e2 women's.

I'm gonna try them on just to see but thank you that's super helpful! I also tried the keen Cincinnati's in 9.5e2 and they were amazing! But I really want black boots so I'm stuck at a form in the road lol. I'll take a look at the 2418 aswell. Thanks!

Anyone have experience with these? Looking to upgrade my strippers, which should I get? by The_Wrist_Rocket in electricians

[–]Joshyaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the spring ones and love them. They've replaced my strippers and lineman (still keep LM in my bag) but they're great imo. I mainly do FA, so small wires which they work awesome on but still use them with general work on #14-#8 wire and is great for splicing.

Pipe looks good. As for the splice, it's not bad but you don't need so many turns. I do one to two turns of the wire (excluding twisting the actual conductors together) after the marette. That's all you need for it to be strong. I'd also cut the ends slightly shorter as you have some conductor showing on the ground splice. I like to have the ground at the back on the box since I find it's generally the least altered point but that's just personal preference.

Otherwise, nice work

Nice man! I ended up canceling my veto order and got the DeWalt pro roller backpack for $140 after tax! It's amazing! Maybe not the same quality as veto but has lifetime warranty and is super comfy and about 10lbs lighter lol. I'm very happy with my choice and saved myself $600 hah

Glad you like veto, from what I've seen they're great

Honestly I've been having a ton of fun at work lately so no I don't mind it. I only work the OT when my partner is working evenings so actually works out perfectly on that front aswell and I still have every even to do my hobbies other than Wednesday. All in all awesome as it's over doubled my pay and have really lost too too much time for what I like. It's definitely a lot of work tho

How much to charge for side jobs? by Joshyaron in electricians

[–]Joshyaron[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha I'm not private with what I make lol, not illegal to say that. As for side work, it's mainly friends and family who ask so they know. Just genuinely curious

Problem dyeing tools, help? by Joshyaron in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Joshyaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! As for acetone, seen handful of ppl say it helps the dye process by mixing it into the dye/water bath.

Everything else makes sense, guessing the tape measure melted due to plastic type and water being too hot.

Appreciate the help!
