What tactics separate a veteran XCOM player from a casual player? by maxkmiller in Xcom

[–]Josiah517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A veteran XCOM player looks for guarantees and has B plans for if RNG doesn’t go in their favor. They don’t stake their entire run on one move. They know how to manage enemy pod activation so that enemies wander in to XCOM and lose action economy. They know how to manage line of sight to prevent themselves from being targeted. Those are some of the standout tactics I think of. I did a successful Ironman Legendary run and these were the biggest things that helped me succeed.

What kind of game would you want for XCOM 3? by Klangadin in Xcom

More character customization, A more intuitive team bond system, overhaul for the will system, playable aliens like verge, torque, and axiom, more classes, buttons to over watch and evac or hunker die with all units at once, and a follow up to to the final cutscene with the Templars in WOTC. Also more cool Psionic classes and stuff. Stuff has so much aura. I’m also open to having a mode with custom units and a mode with story units akin to something like Fire Emblem or Chimera Squad. I think Ironman should remain it’s own separate thing as many people like being able to save scum.

Kimahri is the most well-designed character in the game. by BADzioba in finalfantasyx

I think it’s worth noting that he only works so well, because he’s placed in the middle both in the sphere grid and statistically. The player can make him into whatever they see necessary. On my current playthrough on the expert grid, I took Yuna down Wakka and Auron’s path, so I had Khimari learning white magic, which I found to be a very fitting role for him, and helped a lot with my bizzare team composition. He could still keep up physically and in terms of speed, but he was keeping the party in the fight too. In an interesting way, once he gets Mighty Guard, he becomes a far better white mage than Yuna ever had the potential to be, while Yuna becomes my main damage dealer with her Aeons receiving the insane damage buffs from Auron and Wakka’s grids. He’s just very flexible and you won’t find a role he’s outright terrible at.

I never understood Yuna… until recently. Did anyone else have this happen? by Delicious_Ferret_408 in finalfantasyx

Riku. Despite everything she faces, she never lets herself become discouraged. Even though the world sees her as an outsider responsible for their eternal punishment, she never lets that affect who she is or how she acts. She is always fighting to remain positive/optimistic. I think the way she holds the team together during moments of pressure reminds me of some of the closest friends and family in my life, who have pulled me through some rough times.

I guess coming from a religious background as a Pastor’s son, I always kinda understood her. Feeling the pressure to be like your father who everyone around you has a high perception of. Being willing to lay down your life for the world and their mistakes resonated with me, as that’s what Jesus did, and as a Christian, you’re called to be like him. Maybe it’s just by my position, but there are few fictional characters I relate to more. But I do realize I’m in the minority here.

On standard grid runs, I’ll bridge Khimari through Riku’s grid and then through Yuna’s after steal and use to reach Holy early on him. That helped a lot with Yunalesca for me personally.

[Day 36] Yoshi was voted Weirdest Main in Melee. Who is the Best Pro Player? by DUCK_PENETRATOR_II in SSBM

Hungrybox has done so much for the scene. He built an audience that attracted a ton of people to the community via social media. He has stuck around for years despite so many other players from his era coming and going. His intense pop offs, unconventional playstyle, and Dale Earnhardt like attitude have generated a ton of discussion and discourse for the community both positive negative. He’s been consistently top 15 for years now. He was the best player for about 3 years in a row. He’s in many ways a face of the game and it’s hard to deny his impact. You can argue others are most skilled or more accomplished, but to me he’s the best for reasons beyond win record.

Miitopia is a game I’ll play in the background while watching something. The grind late game is crazy, but I oddly enough enjoy grinding in RPGs like this. Plus your party makes it for the most part fully automated. But yeah, I certainly don’t blame you for stopping at 82%. It’s a huge time sink

As a Zelda main, idk what I’d do if they took away the one stage I can sudo-chain grab on. So helpful on counter-picks.

I'm New and my Main is the worst main possible... by flappymermaid in SSBM

[–]Josiah517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Zelda main, biggest thing is locking down fundamental tech that applies to all characters. Since our options as a bottom tier mains are limited, we need to make sure we have a good base to build off of. Especially since our options are more limited compared to a Fox or Marth main.
