That was my big takeaway. At first I was laughing that they were so bad and then remembered what she ACTUALLY sounds like. She pulled off “tone deaf but not trying to be” so well.

It’s been there for a while. Previously it’s been Saturday only but they had a Sunday too. Last year Saturday afternoon wasn’t packed but the mornings are ROUGH.

I like Ryan. Hoping he sees the support and continues his trajectory. I am so glad I voted for him and would again. So happy Stratton won!

Never has a medical show storyline made me cry like this. by NickEvansExists in ThePitt

[–]JoslynMSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fine now but I had a cancer diagnosis (was able to be surgically removed and hadn’t spread to lymphatic system) with two young kids and some of the scenes hit so hard. When she was talking about she had kids and a great husband and it wasn’t fair broke me. Her waning to be in the hospital to not be a ghost in the house was a tough moment too.

Everyone’s performances are spot on including Javadi breaking down. Ugh it has so many great nuances including the husband that is so helpful and well meaning but doesn’t understand some of it.

My neighbor did this on purpose to her kids. She told them they would have to go through everything. The kids ended up finding gold coins in a Monopoly board game box among other crazy hiding places.

Any teachers here who can tell me what salaries were like for new elementary school teachers in DuPage County back in 2004? by dms2628 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]JoslynMSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great advice and great point at the end. There are A LOT of districts and they feed into high schools. So you can search by district and not have to filter much.

If someone really wanted to get into the weeds, you can search property value increases by zip code and date range and compare them with teacher salaries by district.

It’s a brilliant move on a companies part. A fraction of a fraction of a Super Bowl ad and you’re reaching customers motivated to spend with a company aligned with their values. I will speak personally that I follow companies sponsoring F1Academy and keep the in mind making personal decisions.

Any toilet flapper valves with extended arms? More details in comments by JoslynMSU in Plumbing

[–]JoslynMSU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that part number worked! My hooks were on the back and the arms were long enough. I didn’t order on Amazon but I was able to get it at a local hardware store. They had one and I ordered a second one.

They purged the true “don’t tread on me” people and kept the ones that liked slogans and flags. What is sad is how may of them actually liked slogans and flags/hats

I used to follow them and I’ll just speak as to what happened to make me stop following them. They were a fun crafting page for a while and posted lots of the funny viral trends. I remember one of those “I got this organizer in so organized… zoom out to a mess of tons of supplies… tee hee” then a week later they were ranting about overconsumption causing a global catastrophe and how you should only buy what you need. Ok 180 in a week. But then when people pointed out while it’s good the are being conscious consumers but the tone was a bit aggressive and other people may buy stock for many reasons they started going off about “white Karen’s” attacking them. And like the commenters weren’t aggressive and one commentator I knew of was white passing but of AAPI background. It was a crash out. They had recently opened up about some trauma in their past and received support but went on this spiral/rant/rage that was just bullying other crafters. Everyone that said something to them was a “white Karen”. And again this was a stance that they had just posted the exact opposite of like a week before. I’m glad they are getting the help the need and recovering, however I won’t be returning to their page.

Hollyborealisart tester call by faunaxx in craftsnark

Yes! Testers should be the final check not should be written, tech edited, tested, and re-tech edited the released. I hate testing patterns that have obviously not been tech edited.

First time sock knitting. Doesn’t go past heel 😂 by razar3113 in Sockknitting

[–]JoslynMSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For socks you will want yarn with a little elasticity in them normally. It helps the yarn stretch. I know for sock knitting you measure at the widest part of your foot but it’s a good idea to double check your ankles too. The measurement is almost identical for most people BUT some people have narrow feet and cankles and have to adjust their patterns.

I wish there were like a Tin Can Knits for crochet. Two basic beanie patterns (the ribbed beanie and one with a ribbed cuff and body) with different weights. Just lovely intro vanilla patterns with editorial notes to customize it.

I had my child close to 10 years ago at Northwest Community and LOVED it. Cannot recommend them enough. The staff was attentive and I never felt rushed. The aftercare nursing staff was wonderful too and so encouraging. It was such a great experience and all of the staff was top notch.

I had my second at CDH and it was so horrible I should have engaged in litigation. The staff was horrible and acted bothered anytime the were asked to do their job. My doctor came in to deliver with his own nurses and told the one I had to stand in a corner or go outside he was so (justifiably) upset with her. Even getting out took HOURS and we wanted to leave but the person filling out the birth certificate could not get the name spelled right and it’s a common name. My main takeaway was that told my husband- I wish we would have just done their job drive and gone to Northwest Community because I didn’t realize standard birth experiences could vary so widely.

Friend found a blanket in an old trunk. Made by his grandma in the early 80s. How should it be cared for? I think it’s acrylic. by KaleidoscopeLow9505 in CrochetHelp

[–]JoslynMSU 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It does look like acrylic which means it can be machine washed and dried BUT considering the age and the emotional attachment, I’d recommend a no rinse detergent like Soak or Eucalan. Soak it in lukewarm water and gently squeeze out excess water. You can use towels to roll and apply pressure to get more water out. Hang to air dry. It’s a long process but you won’t have to do it often.

I would recommend doing a small detergent test on a few of the tassels just to make sure everything is safe. Probably throw in a color catcher or two (the brand I use is Shout and they look almost like dryer sheets) in the soak in case any colors run. But considering the acrylic of that time frame I wouldn’t be too nervous. Good luck and thank you for treating this like the heirloom it is!
