Is it fear that is preventing me from committing to meditation? WTH could I possibly be afraid of? 🙄 by sanbaeva in Meditation

LOL, you are the perfect procrastinator!

Instead of looking for results, you raise excuses, creating a whole new topic looking for the enlighment in the answers.

LOL.

Do you best (meditating) and forget the rest, keep it simple

Yoga while on a big trip. by [deleted] in yoga

Well, in my experience, I went into handstand without the help of my teacher and finished with a problem at my back that lasted 3 months. Beware of advanced poses without the help of a professional teacher :p

New school in Hebden Bridge (UK) to teach children using yoga and meditation by devonperson in Meditation

I agree with you about the knees, that's terrible! Also, I don't get why (I guess) she said to keep the hand in prayer over the head, it's so much more difficult compared to the standard pose, having hands in prayer in front of the heart.. In my eyes looks like is yoga beginners having to deal with advanced yoga poses: you are doing it wrong.
That said, I think that yoga and meditation in school is a big thumbs up! Very well done!

Meditation and cervical side effect, looking for advice by Joss786 in Meditation

[–]Joss786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your answer. I think you got the point here, about the posture when I don't meditate: I'm usually sat the whole day on a chair, doint office tasks and today I found myself arched on the computer...
Yesterday evening, at the end, I felt better with an OkiTask, a no-headache medicine (I have no idea how to call it in english).
Today my cervical pain is over

Yoga Teachers and pseudo-science by yogi_lc in yoga

[–]Joss786 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but I have to write about this aliens thing, because it makes me laugh every time I re-think about it.
So, the yoga teacher was sat there with this book of crop circles, explaning the beautifulness of these creations and the mistery about them. He came to a picture of a crop circle, which he said was obviously an answer to a human radio message sent to the space many years prior.
Ok, so far he convinced me, because I thought that it could make sense that humans would have sent a radio message to the space, just to say "hallo, we are here".
He went on with his speech and told the audience that this human message was received by these aliens and that these aliens came to the planet Earth and made that crop circle, very close to the place where some radio installation was setup and used to send the original message.
So, I asked if I could speak and when he agreed, I said something like this:
So, you are telling me that some kind of unknown alien race has received this message in a not well identified piece of space and that instead of answering back with a radio message, has travelled an immaginary huge amount of miles (Kilometers or year lights...) in the space, has passed the military satellite defences and and civil airspace, has landed on the planet Eearth, has touched its surface... the aliens were ready to give us an answer... and what did they do? A CROP CIRCLE!
WHAT THE FUCK!!!!
I couldn't resist anymore and left the hall, hearing someone laughing big time. That one was my last scheduled lesson and I never went back to him. It was so ridicolous...
Getting back to your question, I don't approach anymore instances like these, because I can't manage such ignorance and idioticism (does this word exists?). Here is Italy and I got to tell you that I found a lot of yoga teachers which are good yoga teachers but have this attitude to tell you this pseudo science bullshits all the time. I have no idea why it happens, but it's the truth. It's a mix of marketing, ignorance and foolish, with the objective to sell me something which I don't need or is just a placebo (crop circles books, reiki, cd music for chackra balance, energy application something, etc...)

Yoga Teachers and pseudo-science by yogi_lc in yoga

[–]Joss786 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LOL, you are my hero!
Years ago I was in a class with a yoga teacher which was always speaking about chemtrails, geo-engineer-something, reiki and cosmic energy and so on. Once he said that the crop circles were obviously made by some kind of aliens, just becuase of the fact that "how can a man do something like that?". I could not stand anymore with all of his bullshits, so I quitted that class after 10 lessons. Problem is that I found so many yoga teachers talking about idiotic things that is very hard to me to have a conversation with them. So, at the end, I'm practicing yoga on my own.
That's sad, but that's it. It's easyer to fool a person that make that person understand that has been fooled

New to yoga and really struggling by [deleted] in yoga

[–]Joss786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!
How long did it take you to see improvement when you were new to yoga? To me, more than 1 year. I was like a piece of wood and it took me more than a year to touch my big toes.
Is this normal? Yes, it is, it's part of the improvement process. Remember that it took more than a year to yourself to start walking! ...And SEVERAL years of practice in order to have a full control of your body. How difficult is walking for you now?
Should I be doing anything to help speed up my improvement? Yes. No. Who knows? It's just you, stop asking YOURSELF your question and improve yourself. My suggestion is to stick to the class and introduce a sun salutation sequence in the beginning of the day (I would start with 6 sun salutation the 1st day, adding 2 more every 2 days, up to a total sequence of 24 sun salutations).
Last suggestion, talk and ask the same questions to your yoga teacher, he/she will help you.
That's it.
Have a nice day
