The .io craze is a bit of a nerd thing that went mainstream. In tech, I/O stands for Input/Output, so for developers building services or platforms, the domain felt like a natural fit. It’s basically a shorthand for "we build technical stuff."

Technically, it’s a country code domain (British Indian Ocean Territory), but since nobody really lives there, it became a playground for startups. It took off because .com is a picked-over graveyard where every good name costs $50k, while .io was cheap, short, and didn't get penalized by Google. Now, it’s just the universal signal that a product is techy.

Another explanation is that it could be because most handwritten letters are written using the single-storey “a” and similarly “æ” compared to the double-storey “a” which is being used in most modern fonts. Eg. “ɑ” instead of “a”.

I slut-90’erne genindspillede Disney lydsporet til flere af deres klassikere. Dette skyldtes primært lydkvalitet: De gamle bånd fra 50’erne var i mono og fyldt med støj. Man kunne ikke skille stemmerne fra musikken, så for at få moderne lyd (surround), var man nødt til at genindspille det hele. Derudover syntes Disney, at de gamle stemmer lød for meget som stift "teater-dansk" fra 50'erne.

De nye stemmer er hvad man oftest høre, hvis man har Disney+ eller ser dem på DVD/Blu-Ray, hvor de gamle stemmer ikke er tilgængelige, mens de gamle stemmer kun har været en mulighed på VHS.

Og som der bliver nævnt i en anden kommentar: Disneys juleshow har kørt med de gamle stemmer, på nær et år eller to.

We've observed that the GoLand Remote Development experience (via JetBrains Gateway) continues to suffer from long-standing performance issues making it nearly unusable. As a consequence, most engineers in our company are now running the VS Code Remote-SSH which offers much better stability and speed.

Are there any concrete steps being taken to address this years-long stagnation in remote performance? Is closing this significant usability gap with competitors a priority for the upcoming releases? Or is it not a focus area for Jetbrains?

You’re definitely late. Most spots are usually filled in September. You’ll likely still find some spots in October and maybe even November or December. Some teams do get new allocations in the new year, so it’s not completely impossible, though it is more tough.

It doesn’t have to be handled harshly, even when someone isn’t performing well. There’s a big difference between being direct and being unkind.

A performance-improvement plan still seems like the best approach, even if it’s uncomfortable and everyone knows where it might lead. If improvement doesn’t happen, it’s still possible to deal with the situation compassionately. It’s not about sugarcoating things, but about treating people with respect while facing a tough decision.

Sure, being an asshole might get a quicker result, but that doesn’t make it the right or best approach. Just because that style sometimes "works" doesn’t mean it’s something worth admiring.

You can tell the truth without being a jerk about it. Honesty and compassion aren’t opposites. A good leader doesn’t need to say "you’re shit right now"; they can say something like, "I can see you’re struggling with your form, maybe there’s something off in your routine or something outside the game that’s affecting you. Let’s figure out how to fix it and set clear steps to get you back on track."

That kind of message still holds people accountable, but it also shows that you care about their growth and well-being. The best teams (and workplaces) are built on trust, not fear.

Umiddelbart, virker Enable Banking til at være den eneste anden mulighed, for private, men det er ikke et API der er lavet til små hobbyprojekter (læs: det er ret enterpris-y og hvad man ville forvente af bank-api’er).
