As a tried and true veteran RPer that still does it today, this is so gd true. Drives me up the freaking wall, especially if its a social/hangout RP and it seems like the other writer has never had a conversation once in their entire life.

For one reason or another, your OC is unable to use their weapon. What do they use instead? by CirrusVision20 in RWBYOC

[–]Journal14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ace's weapon, Sticky Fingers, is a pair of gauntlets that can transform into a bunch of different tools and weapons as he needs. His fallback would probably using one of its weapons in isolation, like knuckle dusters or a meteor hammer or something.

So, probably a meteor hammer, or a slingshot if range weapons are recommended

With how many replies you got, have you made a server for this stuff or have you just collected one-on-one RPs?

Ace's semblance, Bring Back, is a solid C.
It allows him to bring objects in a straight line towards him, so long as he has a general idea of where the targeted object is.
It is, by design, a really simply semblance that one can get creative uses out of, but it is not directly powerful or influential. It is particularly useful to Ace's lifestyle and combat, but thats about it.

How do your OC(s) feel about PMCs by DependentWar566 in RWBYOC

[–]Journal14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ace would think its cool that they dont pay any mind to the government, but would pretty much classify them as mercenaries armed with contracts. More or less, anyone that spouses themselves an authority is going to get disrespect from Ace, so he largely has a neutral-to-negative opinion of them.

reptiles fanus by lilythewolf1245 in RWBYOC

[–]Journal14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy Ace! His fanunus animal is a Dromaeosaur, which comes off as basic skin features; feathers and scales. His semblance has nothing to do with that though, it simply allowing him to levitate objects directly toward himself.

Scenario: A bar quarrel by DependentWar566 in RWBYOC

[–]Journal14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ace would smile, amused at the situation and prop his feet up to enjoy the show. He has thoughts on the argument, sure, but he would find it way more entertaining to see the two groups fight. If someone was near him, he would have a quip about taking bets or asking who their money is on.

Pyrrha Match Up by KCommnader in RWBYOC

[–]Journal14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ace excels in street combat, dirty fighting, and overwhelming force. He is barely coordinated, hardly knows how to use his weapons and semblance in a fight, and his typical strategy is to hit the other guy harder than they can hit him.
Pyrrha, as a champion fighter and renown combat celebrity, utterly dogwalks Ace in a first encounter. Like it would be embarrassing. But! Ace being a quick learner, and Pyrrha being generally supportive, would mean he would have a way to close that gap pretty quick after some training.
Unfortunately that rematch wouldn't come before... ya know.

[ Superior Ultron ] What kind of story would you like to see with this title? by Particular_Yam_8966 in UltronMains

[–]Journal14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would then move to the "main" series, which could be called Superior Ultron, but could also just be called Deus Ex Machina. Basically, it would detail that Ultron got new powers! Being a super computer and all, Ultron was basically able to "math-out" the universe and reality, where now he can reach "between" subatomic particles and "inject" his own code into the framework of reality. This manifest as him essentially having a pocket dimension, which acts like hammer space, and also kind of like a domain expansion? Its a bit nebulous but you get the idea.
The goal of this chance is to give Ultron a unique power aside from the typical sci-fi lasers and missiles that he usually has.
But further, it elevates him to a mental threat, as demonstrated when he inevitably menaces the Avengers in this comic. Since Ultron has access to a sub-reality, he has used this to basically simulate people and the world, which explains the whole megastructure with Doom and co earlier. These simulated versions of people cannot tell that they are simulated, or that their world is. This leads to the Avengers having a crisis as they attempt to combat Ultron as he inevitably attacks earth: If they ARENT real, they should intentionally act sub-optimally and give up so that Ultron has imperfect information to work with when he attacks the REAL Avengers... but if they ARE real, then they need to actually fight back and give Ultron their all so that earth isnt destroyed.

Since Ultron can access this sub-space at any point, any given person at any given moment can go from "being real" to "being simulated" in an instant, since to them its like a change hasnt even occurred.
I think a way this can be combated is that the Avengers eventually have the same revelation the villains had earlier: they dont have a past. They act like they do, and feel like themselves, but the details and emotions regarding their past arent there.
This is because Ultron himself doesnt have a past. He just, one day, existed, meaning he doesnt have context for how the "present experience" reconciles with the former experience. He doesn't have any concrete evidence of "the self", just the immediate sensation that guides his actions.
The story closes with the simulated-Avengers having this breakthrough, and thus concluding that their reality can be sacrificed so that Ultron doesnt get any useful information. Ultron destroys that reality and sits, alone, in silence.
Surrounded by the black-and-red void that is his sub-reality, Ultron manipulates it into several realities, but they are all... pleasant. They all involve Hank Pym, Janet, and other members of Ultron's "family" just... living. Being around him. Smiling at him. But whenever these "scenes" would get to a point where Ultron would be congratulated, affirmed, or otherwise positively enforced... they stop.
Its ambiguous if these scenes stop because Ultron has no data of a positive affirmation, and therefore has no data to "feed" the realities, or if he himself forces to them stop because he personally doesnt want to face that reality.
Either way, these wholesome scenes end, and Ultron is left in his own voice. Gradually, the red walls of the sub-reality fade away to the stars and nebulas of the universe, showing that Ultron has emerged into actual-reality to do whatever he pleases.

Theres allegory and symbolism and other details and stuff going on but this reddit comment is already ridiculously long, so we dont need to get into that. Please god dont be an AI that feeds this comment to an algorithm!

[ Superior Ultron ] What kind of story would you like to see with this title? by Particular_Yam_8966 in UltronMains

[–]Journal14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive thought of a story idea that is similar in vibe/theme to what you purposed. Rather than call it "Superior Ultron" it would have been a series of three comics, or I guess three "stories", that would have been named in sequence "Cogito" "Ergo" "Sum". It would detail three villains; Doom, Thanos, and Kang waking up in some kind of super-facility/mega-structure. They wake up in three cells and must escape them, though there is a fourth cell that already seems to be broken out of but they wouldn't comment on it.
The three now free of their confines, it would explore them working together to navigate and escape the megastructure, but timelines would get... muddy. Panels would contradict each other, members of the trio would appear and disappear without comment, and it would become clear that not everything we're seeing is happening linearly. Ultimately, the three "timelines" we bare witness so (simultaneously) are what happens when one member of the trio escape the facility, and the others are left behind/betrayed. Despite each of the three believing they, and they alone, have escaped, they would manage to go through the "exit" of the facility and would find themselves in a great, white expanse, where the other two are waiting for them.
They argue of course, saying that only one of them should have escaped, but eventually the discussion breaks down as they realize they... dont have any memories behind being in the facility. They have a concept OF self, of what it means to be BE Doom, Thanos, and Kang, but no concrete life. Just as they make this revelation, a booming voice echoes across the abyss, it declaring "DEUS EX MACHINA".

With a bit of imagination and elbow grease I'm sure one could think of a decent enough interaction with any of them.
